Nice way to end your career. If you didn't appreciate that moment you don't have a pulse. One of baseballs leaders for the last 20 years.

First in hits, games played, steals, doubles, and second only behind Babe in runs for the Yankees. He also has the all-time hits and runs in the postseason.

Well done.

Bitterness is deep inside you Cubbie fans isn't it?

Do you know for sure that Jeter never used amphetamines or other substances to enhance his performance?
No you don't. I thought you were dumb on the political message board but you are even dumber on the sports boards.
Jeter is a fraud. You are fooled again.

Do YOU have any proof, or are you just pissing in the wind? The burden of proof lies with the accuser.

Jeter deserved the send off he received last night.

Tell me again what that has to do with the fact that I don't think any one player deserves this type of BS? You're telling me Jeter is above the game with this. No one is above the game. I would have hated to see this done for Ernie Banks, Ron Santo, Andre Dawson, etc

So again....I'll just wait over here while you try to formulate a response to that

What are you talking about? Above the game?

So in your opinion, you don't think one player deserves this. Well, you're entitled to that. But obviously every team he faced this year didn't feel that way. And obviously the Yankees wanted a special day for him.

But it's everybody else that has it wrong.....right.

Cal Ripken got the same treatment. And there was the same discussion of his stats yada yada back in 2001.

I'm not sure we'll have to worry about another retirement tour for awhile considering there won't be another player like Jeter retiring. So for now you can go on complaining about other meaningless things.

TALK ABOUT DRAMA QUEEN.

You have the right to love Jeter and pin his picture up in the stall at work.

Cards 21 and I have the right to be disgusted that the focus should be on the pennant races and TEAMS.
Especially when people like you over rate a good hitter who hurt his team for years playing mediocre shortstop.
His Shortstop numbers are terrible SINCE 2001 since you like that year. The worst fielding shortstop of the era.

Try to deny that. Go ahead. He ain't even top 10 for his franchise. He was never the best player in the game.

Every team honored him because what else could they do? Be the only teams that don't kiss the mighty Yankees butt? Between your little man syndrome, defending rapists, bashing your home state university, and man crushing on the brain dead Matheny and the over hyped Jeter the drama continues.

Do you read what you type? I'm the drama queen? Are you serious Steven?

Must be a terrible life to be caught up in such a meaningless thing that does little to you, but yet you hate so much.

You can tell it's gameday. You're stressed.

So in your opinion, you don't think one player deserves this. Well, you're entitled to that. But obviously every team he faced this year didn't feel that way. And obviously the Yankees wanted a special day for him. Special day, fine. They did that back on Sept. 7th. This thing has been worn out all year. Cool ending though...For the record, I think the day is fine. The tour is overdone. And the last AB in Yank-me stadium is cool. And the sick side of me likes that it was an absolutely meaningless game.

But it's everybody else that has it wrong.....right. What were the others supposed to do? Be the one team that didn't honor him? That would NEVER happen in the day of PC money grubbing ninnies. Be too afraid they would rub someone the wrong way.

Cal Ripken got the same treatment. And there was the same discussion of his stats yada yada back in 2001. Twice in 14 years doesn't exactly prove your point. At least Cal broke a record or two. And was contrite enough to accept a position change when he was no longer able to play SS.
Not Cards by a long shot...but I'll take a stab at it.

Jeter was definitely not the best defensemen. I don't think anybody is arguing that. His consistency was key. He had claim to atleast two MVP's in 06 and 99, and in the voting in others.

How many players had atleast 8 seasons of 200+ hits, .309 average and +3400 hits. TWO OTHERS Pete Rose and Ty Cobb.

Hit .351 in the World Series. 5 time champion.

First ballot hall of famer.

Deny that you crabby old bitter little man.

Lastly, I'm no Yankees fan, just appreciate the player. Irony at it's best, me defending Jeter from your own stupidity(make some ridiculous remark about a poster in a stall), yet you fall all over yourself when Peyton Manning is brought up.

Gotta love it.

You guys must watch too much ESPN if it bothers you this much. I don't see it.

It's simple, does it harm anything? Or maybe you want to hear more about Ray Rice and AP?

I'm all for the Yankees celebrating him. Great, wonderful, lovely

I saw no point in the cubs celebrating him. He has been to Wrigley maybe 6 total games???????? Not saying this cubs specificity but as an example
