Starting today, Trump has instructed hospitals to send their covid numbers to the Dept of Health and Human Services instead of the CDC. Now the Trump admin will control the numbers being released. I would suspect the numbers will start looking better soon!!

Something that bothers me about the numbers - why don't they list the number of active infections? Correct me if I'm wrong, but after someone has recovered they can remain infectious for 14 days, right? Why isn't there also a list which drops the number of people who are no longer infectious? I look at the state map that shows the cases county by county. Ste Gen County had 6 cases right off the bat for a couple weeks, then it went to 8 cases for a couple weeks until the end of the shutdown. Now the number is 20 cases. Aren't those 8 early cases no longer a danger of infecting others. Wouldn't a more useful number to know be the number of people in your area who are currently infected and capable of transmitting the virus? Granted, SG County cases are so few that it isn't a concern, but in larger infected places I would want to know how many people are infectious currently more so than how many cases since the beginning.

Trumpets will point to numbers as accurate now even though this is the most corrupt admin in history.

Sad! Bigly!

You know when I heard that this morning it really makes me go hmmmm. But if they try to fudge the numbers I think this could really back fire on them. Because I know in my area the county releases the numbers to the public, and I would think most would so somebody could put those together and find out real quick if somebody has doctored them?

Also I agree, why do we continue to count those who are considered recovered with those who have it. I think a better way to inform the public would be to say we have 20 recovered and 18 active for a total of 38 in a county. We have one county who will once in awhile give those numbers which is nice when they do it.

They do it in the newspaper that way here in Butler County.

All these school superintendents and governors are keeping schools closed just to hurt Trump. Walmart is requiring masks now just to get Donald.

Everybody is lying to keep him from getting elected. I know of at least 137,000 who are lying in their coffins. It’s all about Trump. It’s a hoax.

What a stupid post. OMG. People have been wearing masks since the CDC told them they are ineffective. People changed their travel habits and we shut down before the feds weighed in. You are deranged.

The media is lying, and the choices are difficult for the superintendents. But maximizing misery is the plan for Democrats.

The jury is still out. But we know closings don't crush COVID. Turn off CNN and buy a brain.

You don't think some of the openings, beaches and bars, have caused the number of cases to spike to record levels in a few states? Several have been attributed to Trump's Oklahoma gathering, and some of those were in his own inner circle. Post Dispatch in St. Louis says kid's summer sports have caused a bunch too. May be that it doesn't affect younger people as bad, but they go home to parents and grandparents. I still say many of those that have had it and survived it will long lasting affects they don't even know about yet.

I agree. 21-year-olds that want to bar hop are a concern. But, remember the concern during the protests? I don't either. The spikes occurred after the protests in many situations. Agree on long-lasting effects.

We have heard so many conflicting reports I now think it's just common sense. Fauci told us masks were not a priority.

So now, common sense, wear a mask in close quarters, stay home if you are at risk. Wash your hands. But shutdowns are not the answer, they only delay.

They play the interview with Fauci in February where he says don't change what you're doing and masks are not very helpful. They do NOT play the rest where he says unless we start to see community spread, then we have to change things. he still says masks are most useful to keep someone from passing it on, not as much to keep that person from getting it.

It would help if the CDC knew the difference between a positive Covid test and an antibody test and didn’t mix up the numbers.

I think Fauci is doing his best. His statements have been inconsistent on a regular basis. He is an expert on diseases in general, but not on this disease because it's unprecedented. So I give him a pass when he changes his mind.

“Their ultimate goal was to shift responsibility for the pandemic from the WH to states. It was at the heart of a catastrophic policy blunder and an attempt to escape blame — perhaps one of the greatest failures of presidential leadership in generations.”
Republican bad- Dem good. Such silliness this evening.
Yet it's bipartisan handling of the virus by states. With different results.
Democrats have no good answer because there's not a good answer. Democrats don't want to solve anything. What a joke.
300,000 people die every year from obesity.

I haven't caught it yet is it contagious? I've been around some pretty chubby folks my whole life.
