,........Just back from a full weekend of overindulging on class 4 & 5 final-four
at JQH Springfield... Congratulations to the new state champs...!
Class 4 (girls) ~ IWA Red Knights ~StL
Class 4 (boys) ~ Grandview Bulldogs ~KC
Class 5 (girls) ~ Kirkwood Pioneers ~StL
Class 5 (boys) ~ Webster Groves Statesmen ~StL

Watched some very good games and of course a few not so good,
in fact one that was right down ugly...! If you were in attendance
for the last game of the final-four late Saturday evening you know
what i'm talking about... I'm calling it the basketbrawl. With at least
7-T's, one ejection, 2 X-fouls and lotza activity that bared NO resemblance
to high school basketball and a blatant embarrass for the Show-Me Showdown.
Makes me appreciate the good quality basic fundamental ball on
display the previous week during the class 1-2-3 final-four that included
great crowds.
Congrats to Sikeston for filling the bowl with the red wave...!
Huge crowd of enthusiastic fans on hand for the awesome matchup
of Chamiande & Webster Groves for the class 5 crown.
One might assume that with a score of Chaminade 90, WG 101 that
the defense was lacking, but not so in this game..
Great to see and visit with many old and new friends from all parts
of the Show-Me State.
Enjoyed stops at Fair Grove old mill and HaHaTonka SP...
We liked Springfield, the city and the JQH arena is just right..
In a few weeks we'll be cruzing the back roads of Mo, Ark, TN,
NC, KY etc in pursuit of curiosities including our annual Dogwood
cruze down scenic Hwy 19 thru Hermann, Steelville, Salem, Eminence,
Alton, Mammoth Springs etc...
Cya.......C (dogpa..=)~

The box score on the MSHSAA site just lists 3 technical fouls, 1 on Grandview, 2 on Ray South. Are they missing the rest?

Maybe Dogfather didn't intend to but misrepresented one of the schools. Outside of the 1 tech, don't think Grandview is at fault for the actions of RaySouth. As a heated rivalry, especially this year with a shared conference title, is that the only time RaySouth shook hands after a game was when they won on a last second shot at Grandview. They seemly forgot how to do it after their 2 loses.

How did two teams from the same conference end up playing in the state championship game?

Agreed "have an idea". Rufus..RaySouth had 4 technical fouls in the 4th quarter and 2 intentional fouls. Plus the fact that Raysouth never shook hands after the game is what he is referring too.

Two different districts that went the opposite way. It could have happened last year also with Kearny going to final 4, but Grandview got beat by Bolivor in OT at quarterfinals.

I figured that, but just wondering how two teams from the same conference ended up in different districts. I guess it's more likely in the city with so many more teams. Just kind of odd. There's been times over the years that two of the top teams in the state reside in our district (Dist. 1 with Sikeston, Notre Dame and Cape Central), but only one gets to get out.
