Raymore-Peculiar senior quarterback
Cameron Coffman put together an outstanding week 2 performance in
the Panthers 53-49 come-from-behind victory over Lee's Summit. For
his efforts Coffman has been named the MOsports.com Class 6 Player of the Week.
Coffman, a 6-foot-2 inch, 170-pound, three-year starter at
Ray-Pec holds offers from an array of schools including Arizona State, Wyoming,
Iowa State, Kansas State, and Nebraska. On Friday, he completed 32-of-48
passes for 536-yards and 6 Panther touchdowns.
The final Coffman touchdown pass came with just 31-seconds
remaining, a 17-yard strike to Trevor Vogelsmeier (who finished
with 192 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns). "Cameron really made some big
plays throughout the game, but his last series was the most impressive",
commented head coach Tom Kruse. "He drove the team
80-yards in 1:20 without using any timeouts and capped it with an 18-yard
touchdown pass."
When he wasn't punishing the Tiger defense with his arm, the
dual-threat quarterback made an impact with his legs as well. Coffman
finished with 57-yards on 11 carries and scored a rushing touchdown.
Coffman has been making plays for the Panthers since he
started as a sophomore, but Friday night might very well have been his best
effort. "If we give Cameron time, he has the ability to find the open
receiver and will make a lot of plays for us", added Kruse.
