Alright now that practice is officially underway how will things shape up?

LARGE
1. Webb- Duh.

2. Willard- Was struggling on whether to put them in the 2 or 3 spot but I will be biased and put them at the 2. Have heard really good things so far from camp and practice. A lot of unknowns outside of Yeargan but they do have several guys back who played big roles last year and I am told that their speed is up and coaches are pleased. Wont be as big up front as last couple of years but maybe the speed in other areas can help makeup for that. One thing that I do know is that the Willard kids expect success now coming off of 8-3 and 9-2 campaigns the past two seasons.

3. Carthage- Derryberry is very good and Carthage will always have some playmakers to work with. I know they lost Poole but I know they will have some other guys there that will be good. Wouldnt be surprised to see them and Willard battling it out again in the district championship. Wouldnt be surprised to see a 7-2 regular season from them and they could surprise and do better than that.

4. Nixa- Interested to see what type of a role they use Logan Tyler in this year. He did a good job last year as they utilized him in different ways. They will be well coached and their kids will be skilled.

5. Republic- Two good backs in Jones and Feil and Beachler's system is one that can have success. They have gotten better each year and I expect them to be in the end up 4-5, 5-4 maybe.

6. Ozark- Looking forward to seeing what Coach Depee does. They have had some spotty years lately and am not sure what all they return. I know they lost Essick who was their playmaker.

7. Neosho- Turning things around but dont know that they will get over that hump this year and rack up big wins. They were much improved last year but admittedly I know little about what they lost or having coming back. I know the Hames kid is back and I was impressed with him last year.

8. Branson- they were poor last year and from what I have heard are young this season. Dont see them getting more than a couple of wins.

SMALL

1. Bolivar- They will be really, really good this year with lots of playmakers and an experienced QB in Sechler. They will run the table again in conference play this year.

2-7????

I actually think that Carthage and Willard with both will at least be in the mix for a Class 5 state title this year (and Nixa might surprise me as well, as they did last year...)

2-7????
Reeds Spring is the run-away #2, then it's likely Marshfield at #3; the rest of the Small COC teams will be fighting to stay out of last place...

I think Webb should run the table again in the large. But I have already heard from several Carthage friends/fans that this years team might be their best chance to challenge for a deep playoff run and possible Webb for the conference title. Now they were not saying for sure but just looking at the players they have on the line and skill that they felt if everything comes together this could be a good group of kids.

Bolivar in the small, Reeds lost a lot from last year so not sure what they have coming up. But seems Bolivar is the king of the small with no real threat in sight.

Carthage and Webb should both know what they have pretty quick :) ..really sucks its the first game of the season.

I like it being the first game. I dont think any team is more ready week one to play than WEBB. Bring the Tigers to slaughter and get it over with. cTOWN isnt big enough to slow WEBBs running game. They might not have a Yeargan but they are loaded with 2-3 around that caliber with probably faster break away speed. I think the more interesting game may be Ozark/Bolivar. 27-25 Ozark last year I believe.

Bolivar is king until someone finally beats them RS did lose a very good class but has a lot coming. The next few years should continue to be good for Wolves fans.

Sooner has this years Junior & Senior class from Reed's improved that much over time? Just Curious because I don't remember them being very good in Youth football. I know this years Sophomores are decent as both them and Monett tangled in the Youth Super bowl in 6th grade and through out youth football. And I know other kids can grow a lot and mature in high school so just Curious. We just always knew since youth that last years seniors from Monett and Reed's would probable tangle later in high school in the playoffs. That was a very good group from both schools.

They have learned to win.. that is a big deal in the program. This years frosh and sophs nearly ran the table during their Jr high years. Now that being said.. success in Jr High or Youth really means NOTHING when it comes to being successful at the high school level, but there is a lot of talent there. They will contend in the COC for the foreseeable future.
I really liked that group you had last year. Played hard. That last game was a heartbreaker.

Totally agree that is why I asked the question you never know how kids will mature and grow!!

Yes those kids will be hard to replace especially their leadership on and off the field they not only excelled on the football field but in the classroom.

Don't they always say that though? That's kinda their thing

Bolivar will roll in the Small.
I like Carthage in the #2 spot in the Large. Also just do to the high they are still on I am taking Nixa over Willard but not by much.
