Well here we are at the midpoint of the regular season. Stimie69er (23.5), Tadqueasy (22.5), and Baldguy (22) are holding 1st, 2nd and third. There are about a dozen others within striking distance though if one of those guys makes a bad pick!

So far the COC is shaping up somewhat like I thought with just a few exceptions. Webb isn't as good as I expected but I'm sure it's a short lived situation, Neosho is better at least offensively than I expected. Thought Joplin would be good but didn't see them besting WC again this year.

Here are the games we've got coming up Friday:
  • Republic at Willard
  • Webb City at Ozark
  • Neosho at Carthage
  • Joplin at Nixa
  • Carl Junction at Branson

  • Republic--by a lot. REPMO JV parents are happy b/c their little babies will get some major 4th quarter varsity action.
  • Webb City--Tigers have been better the last two weeks. Webb has been not so Webb, but this is sort of the point in the season they start to normalize. I think Webb wins with a fairly large spread.
  • Carthage--Gall might have 10 carries for 300 yards and 5 TD's...by halftime. Neosho is much improved on offense, not so much on defense.
  • Nixa--Gaahhhhhhh, I want to pick the upset. I'm just not sold on Joplin being THIS good. Game of the week in the COC for sure, and I think Nixa pulls away late.
  • Carl Junction--I think CJ can control Branson's ground game enough to pull out the W.

You may have missed a few in your scoring, I know I had 15 pts after week 3 and I still have 15 after week 4 ( i picked a few correct)

Going to need to pick a couple of upsets to get back in this scoring.

Republic over Willard--Republic is too good on offense, I do think Willard will stay closer because their passing game could get going against Republic's man defense.

Ozark over Webb--Webb didn't play well and Ozark is starting to look pretty tough. I think Ozark may be equal or better at skill spots right now, Webb is better up front. I need to pick some upsets, and this one is more likely than the others.

Carthage over Neosho--Neosho will keep this one close though. They are really improving.

Nixa over Joplin--Nixa wants that district 1 seed and can cruise from here. They will do everything possible to win this one and can then get all of their other guys PT for a few weeks.

Branson over CJ--Two bad teams...but one has a 1st year coach, so this is the time of year where they will still play hard, and CJ may not.

Republic
Ozark
Carthage
Nixa
Branson

Sorry about that, I didn't show any picks for you last week but I see you did have some. With those added in it's showing 20pts now.

Which now I see that I never posted my picks for this week so here they are:

  • Republic over Willard: Willard is running out of chances to win a game this season.
  • Webb City over Ozark: Ozark looked really bad starting out but they appear to be improving. This is an upset worthy of consideration but I'm not taking the gamble on this one.
  • Carthage over Neosho: I could see the Tigers getting surprised by Neosho and finding themselves "having" to score just in order to keep pace but I think Carthage will pull away at some point. Kind of similar to a game at Republic a few years ago where Republic was maybe the worst or second worst team but somehow managed to score on most of their first several possessions.
  • Nixa over Joplin: Not surprisingly Joplin seems to be better than I initially expected. Even so, I expect Nixa is just going to out-talent them. Will definitely be a fun one for those in attendance. Nixa will want this one bad.
  • Branson over Carl Junction: This is a really, really tough pick. I could see either of these teams winning. I'm going with Branson at home.
