Coaching Changes for 19-20

How about we not turn on the carousel until, say, late October 2019?

The only one I see so far that's posted online is KC Central, but it's a little confusing because it's posted this week but says 18-19 on it.... So who knows.

50 Wins in 8 years of Big Man and 18 in 9 years without, got to be something about the curse. If KU was smart they would find some kind of offering to appease the Big Man.

East Newton is listed as open on MO TEACHING Jobs...again...

Who exactly do they think they are going to get? I thought Wolfe was a good hire...young, energetic, and most importantly he worked at it/wanted to be there. Not the best side of the Big 8 to be rebuilding on...

I truly believe he was trying hard and put in alot of effort, he was a very young coach and like you said he loved being there.

I was talking to a few friends over there and they said, and this is their words. "the admin is actually going to go out and spend the money to get a good coach, and put some effort into the program"....

However with the unstable atmosphere/culture that has gone on for awhile there, I think it will be hard to get alot applicants.... but that is just my humble opinion. I wish them luck and they have put some money in the facilities these last few years. Have some young kids that can play.

Salary schedules are set......there is no extra money to spend in high school sports unless you make them an admin or something.

Totally agree, but I guess they could increase the stipend, or that is what I was thinking they meant? I know Monett did an adjustment to some of our coaches in some sports so they could either keep them or attract better applicants.

40k for teaching, 10k for summer weights, 10k for football, 5k for morning fall weights, 5k for morning spring weights, 5k for spring afternoon weights, 5k for district strength and conditioning coordinator, 1k for PE dept. chair.

Now I'm at 81k, and I could get it to 100k pretty easily.

Those are some hefty stipends. My teacher friends need to go to that district especially if you do weights.

That's more of a big school example, but you get the point. Compensation doesn't have to come from salary alone.

yeah I know in the past we have gotten some coaches up there by adding this and that. Also you can put them on a 12 month contract to just bump up the base salary and most coaches work all summer long anyways.

I like it. It would also go a long LONG way if they allow the new hire to bring a couple of his current coaches with them. (should make it go faster) and pay them same titles listed, maybe smaller dollars but pay them.

I would be curious to see the Newt with J. Roderique and Smitty, (or one with huge success and a couple of his Asst.) just to see what happens.

15 mins of morning bus duty for an hours pay at $20/hr...repeat in the afternoon. $40 extra/day X 180 days...all sorts of ways to get creative. I got offered a hoops job once. Initial was like $35K. At the end of the talks we were up to around $55K and the only real thing that changed among the duties was that I had an extra hour off for "JH AD" as well. When it comes right down to it, the BOE has the right to place you wherever they want on the salary schedule. They just have to approve it, and deal with backlash if it's there. In my case, at the time, I had only a bachelors, and they were putting me on the masters scale with 10 yrs experience (I think it was my second or third year). Man, they lucked out when I decided not to take that job!

Maaaaybe .... I still think it depends a lot on what their youth program looks like.

I think your taking to much of that into consideration. They have athletes galore now but 10 15 years ago there were about a handful of studs on Rod’s teams and the rest were poor athletes that he got the most out of. One of there best teams they’ve ever had had an Oline that barely averaged over 210 lbs. and had a tailback that was 160 lbs soaking wet and not super fast. Consistently his best defensive players are kids that you look at in pregame and think he must be a roll player or waiting his turn. I don’t mean that as a jab either I think it’s incredible what he does. The man gets the most out of his kids and I assume he’s very nice to all students because he gets kids to come out. When I was growing up in the early 90’s Webb never seemed to have great Pee Wee teams. And all those kids went on a tear in high school. Same thing happened when my nephews went through school.

I see JCPS is now looking at applicants for all coaching positions. That is Jeff City Capital High school. So how are the splitting the kids in Jeff City?
