Coaches throw punches after Parkway North/MICDS game

Apparently, Lisa Lyle has dealt with this before.

I'm not sure if MICDS deserves the reputation it is developing, but the best way for an institution to shed itself of a problematic reputation isn't through internal investigations, strong denials or self-serving written statements, but through an external, independent investigation.

This is not a good look for Country Day. And, the fact there was a big blow up within their own community involving the rampant use of the N-word doesn't add any validity to their public statements and posturing about what did or did not occur in the game against PN.

I'm still interested to see what, if any, decision comes from MSHSAA concerning the on-field incident and how it does or doesn't impact MICDS this week against HE.

Ya, I'm familiar with official's jurisdiction and administrative protocol before, during and after contests.

If something happens while they are on the field (and that includes while they are jogging off the field after the game, but see something happen), then whatever does happen is still within their jurisdiction. And, they are to respond and report according to rules and the official's handbook as published by MSHSAA/NFHS.

Whether they do or not, is a different conversation.
All of that is true, most people who don't wear the stripes on Friday night have no idea when their duties begin and when they end.

I doubt if MSHSAA will touch it. It’d have to be a situation that was much more violent and the provocation would have to be extraordinarily blatant. Even then, I’d expect they’d go directly to MICDS and the school would handle it internally. The details of any suspensions would be in-house and wouldn’t be discussed publicly. It’d be considered a disciplinary thing that was “sealed” bc it was part of student privacy rules/laws. It’ll blow over ... just like any of the other scandalous situations that’ve happened at the school that don’t make the papers. Rest assured the monied shareholders know how to hush things up. Last year vs their rival John Burroughs they’d gotten heat bc their students hung a homophobic banner during the game and their players were caught slurring a JBS player during the game and online.

I often wonder what the wealthy do with their money. This helps. Holy smokes, that’s a healthy mortgage payment.

Over 100 grand for a high school diploma that the kids at Lindberg or any other public get for free. I am sure they have a lot of neat opportunities and enrichment there, but dang.

Divorce, hair plugs, starting every sentence with "WHAT A....". Public education is fine.

Can you imagine going to breakfast with Joe Buck? WHAT A SLICE OF BACON!! WHAT A TOAST!!! WHAT A PANCAKE!
I like Joe. But I liked him a lot better before everyone found out about him. I'm pretty sure I've talked about it before on here. Had to have been around spring/fall of 94. I was driving home from MU for the weekend. Birds were playing. Flipped it on about the second I hit I-70 and for about the next 3 hrs until I got to Fred'city, had Joe, Bob Costas, and Jack Buck calling the game. It was just amazing. None of the Hollywood stuff you get now. Just three amazing broadcasters at that time doing a game.

Yeah, but to not have to be around commoners? Heathens? Plebeians?
You can't put a price on that. You're around them for awhile, you start thinking and acting like them.

It is not FB but Jack Buck's call of Kirk Gibson's GWHR in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series stands as my absolute favorite of all time! That man will never, ever be replaced............

Similar story but opposite outcome. My brother and I were driving home from Indianapolis on a Sunday, having just watched his Broncos get demolished by the Colts in the first round of the playoffs. I was flipping through the radio to pick up the Vikings/Packers game. Got to listen to the whole game driving home in my brothers ford contour. It was awesome, up until Moss "mooned" the crowd and Joe Buck called it "a disgusting act" and complained about it for 20 minutes. Just went down hill from there. He is hard to tolerate in baseball and football at this point. He is right there with Chris Collinsworth.

Anyway, straight cash homie.

Vin Scully was always my favorite.
In a season that has been so improbable the IMPOSSIBLE has happened...........amazing that was 30 years ago! Maybe the greatest moment in baseball history at least up there with some that happened before I was born (long, long ago).

I like Joe. I think Royals fans are forever salty he didn’t talk about them enough during the World Series. Like he has an obligation to talk about KC. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Including Joe Buck. He’s just fine.

Joe comes off as an aloof prick...
I know a lot of people think this, I just don't get it. I'm a huge McKernan/TMA fan. Podcast daily. He and Tim are tight, and Tim has had him on the show and his podcast. Joe has been really open and fun on those. I think he was embarrassed about the hair plugs reaction and what it did to his voice, and he even says that and the divorce were tough and hardened him during those times. Idk, that podcast made me think differently about him.

What I always think is funny about Joe...STL fans and people don't like that he doesn't slant to STL enough or at all in national broadcasts. KC folks (and others) don't like that he has bias for STL things. It's hilarious.

It's a little over 90 mins, but worth the listen.

Joe comes off as an aloof prick, but his dad was the real royalty.

"Go crazy folks...GO CRAZY!"

Vin Scully was always my favorite.
I was born in So Cal and lived there till age 9. About age 5 my mom one night turned on the Dodgers game on the radio. From that point until moving to Mo. I don't think I missed 5 games total. Scully never got old! He always did the games by himself too. Told more stories about the opponents players than the Dodgers players. While he was obviously a Dodger fan, he called the games straight up. When moving here, I was SHOCKED by the partiallity of the Cardinal announcers when calling a game.

When I was a kid the Saturday afternoon NBC game of the week was called by Vin Scully and Joe Garagiola. That was big time stuff before the days of 50 ESPN and Fox Sports Channels. That and an episode of The Baseball Bunch and This Week in Baseball with Mel Allen made for a great Saturday.

Yeah, in those days, getting your team to play on the tube on Saturday was VERY special. I can remember moving to Mo. and having to wait 2 days to see the results of games on the west coast in the paper. I'm sure there were ways to find out but I didn't and don't know what they were. Nowadays, it just seems like an impossibility to have been that way. I had pretty sever Scully withdrawals as a child.

Oh man "This week in Baseball" brings back memories. I believe Ozzie ran that show for a bit as well. Kids just don't have any idea anymore!

If you were really ancient and heard Harry and Jack together, that was amazing. Some people thought Jack was the boring sidekick. Turns out Harry was Jerry Lewis and Jack was Dean Martin. You didnt realize what a gem we had, in Jack until Harry was gone.

I still contend Jack Buck and Hank Stram doing MNF on radio was the most informative and entertaining pair in my lifetime.

Meanwhile on Thursday night football, I want to fork my ears.

I seriously think I am turning into a curmudgeon. I miss the mid 90's MNF games. Where I had one brother on the roof adjusting the antenna, another at the door and me on the remote. Fuzzy screen and all.
