Is there something wrong with him physically or is he just not mentally tough enough to be THE guy in the rotation? That said, I thought Matheny should have made it point to get tossed on the ridiculously late timeout call by the HP ump. Even then what Martinez did was silly. What he did looked about like the pitch he tossed to the 3rd base line with runner on 3rd. Just throw the pitch anyway, and try your best to hit the freakin ump with it! :p

Personally, I think he’s a head case.
I have to agree. I'm not sure he'll ever become that guy you have confidence in and can depend on. I thought maybe Yadi could guide him to that point. But that's not looking good either.

This is easy to say tonight with Flaherty’s performance, but I think he’ll be considered their ace (#1) next season, if not sooner.

Looks like it for now. If Wacha could ever stay healthy he along with Flaherty and Mikolas sure could boost the rotation for a while, and maybe somebody can get Cmart and Weaver straightened out.

Maybe we should let Flaherty and Mikolas both go thru the league once before we anoint them. Weaver was mighty strong his first time thru last year before reality reared its ugly head. Andujar was flaky but he was a fierce competitor who took fielding his position seriously. On days he didnt have it he still battled. I cant say the same for the Chia Pet.

When you think about it, that five is really strong. Weaver has to throw more strikes, but his numbers really aren’t that bad. And I think CMart will be fine, he was rushed back given the Reyes inA lot of the rotations issues are linked to having to be damned near perfect given the anemic offense and the failures of the pen. And obviously the Reyes injury was a killer.

Rushed back or not he he flat out lost it mentally in his last start! If he's not ready to pitch HE should tell them. The thang he let flop out of hand with a runner on 3rd was inexcusable. Even if he had stopped his motion like it appeared he tried to do, it was going to be a balk and the run would have scored anyway. When the ump calls a LATE time out you have to go ahead and throw the ball up there. I still think Matheny should screamed out the dugout and got tossed for that call. I don't doubt the 'potential' of Martinez, I doubt his mental toughness when things don't go well and sometimes even when they do!

I say when they call a late time out you just throw at the batter. What do you have to lose!
