Class 5 Championship: Francis Howell 49, Fort Osage 21 FINAL

I wish Fort would use a tight end. They only target 1 receiver and like to run a lot. Seems like a no brainer. Both Kearney and Francis Howell have used the position well.
KDogs will be looking for one next year. One of only a few positions of need come 2023 but we will discuss that Sunday morning (2022 wrap up and look ahead annual thread).

Howell is pretty good to very good on defense. Their offense is just incredible. Studs at all positions. QB is fast as throws well ...Mizzou commit te is a stud .....both RB are really good . The gurly kid is a stud at wr . #10 is really good at wr . Interesting to me that Howell plays their best skill position kids both ways . #4 RB/lb, #26, #88 ECT . May be a hot take but this is how it should be imo . Two platoon the lineman ...the rest should be best players available

Howell junior QB Shipley rushes for 240 yards and three touchdowns. "4 RB Brady Hultman rushed for 135 yards...but sprained an ankle badly at the end of the game...stand out kickerJosh Deal got the last 2 goal line carries but came up short at 2 yard line. Fort O is young...they'll be back!

As a Howell alumni, tonight was a long time coming. In the years I went to Howell, they would always win districts and then get clobbered by Jefferson City. It's been 40 years since any team from St. Charles has won a state championship and Francis Howell had never won one before tonight. This is a night I will never forget.

THIS IS WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT! CONGRATULATIONS!

Howell was impressive. Great athletes in the backfield who did a great job of executing that offense and rarely went down on first contact. I think Fort might have kept it more respectable if they don't turn it over on the drive when they are down 14-7....although I don't think they would have ever been able to continue to match Howell score for score.

Howell definitely the best C5 team I saw this season.

Proud of Fort Osage. I think they maxed out their capabilities this season.

Fort will have some really promising talent returning (Peppers, Thompson and a few others) but we'll need to find a qb and replace all the wr's...along with 3 starting d-linemen. It'll be a rebuilding year most likely.

Couldn't agree more. I was really proud of the senior class who seemed to turn it up dramatically from the beginning of October onwards.

Definitely a rebuilding year next year even with Peppers and Thompson. The linebackers will be a solid group but other than that every spot you mentioned as well as the offensive line will be in rebuild mode.

Without their roster in front of me, I know Howell will have some big holes to fill on both sides of the ball. Brett Norfleet is going to be very tough to replace because of his size and athleticism. They are also losing their top 2 RB's and one of their top weapons at WR and CB, in Taj Gurley. Josh Deal has been Howell's kicker for 4 years and his career is going to be very tough to match.

Peppers is already a budding superstar. One heckuva player to build around. To me Fort 2022 was a classic showcase of OVERCOMING ADVERSITY. Ultra impressive.

Your league is moving right alongside the best in STL, KC and SWMO. Amazing talent and programs!

Didn't a team from St Charles win Class 2 last year?
Yes, Lutheran St Charles won last year. However, that is a private. I’m thinking there are of also been some fort Zumwalt schools that have either played or one for a state championship over the course last 40 years.

You didn't say anything about Privates in previous message, so didn't realize you were talking only Public schools
