Also, if you want to talk about the success of the other sports at Blair Oaks, I will gladly have that conversation. I can't speak of other areas, but I follow the Central MO area fairly close in all sports but mainly football and basketball. I'm not sure if you have any ties to the school or actually know anything about it. But they are made up of 4 small rural communities, not just the 1800 of Wardsville. I have my opinions on why I think they are successful and I will tell you it has nothing to do with recruiting.St. Mary's is class based on enrollment. Had they not had their season ended due to Covid last year they would be class 4. They are already at 3 points now and will move up next season.
There is where we disagree. Public schools recruit just the same. Private schools are restricted to a 25
mile radius after initial enrollment in 9th grade. It acts just like a boundary. With the exception on Trinity closing (which most of those kids stayed in north St. Louis county) almost all of these kids are enrolling their freshman year.
St. Louis youth football is crazy good. The thing is most kids are going to go play some where as a group. It has way more to do with parents getting together and sending their kids to that same school. Going to private schools wasn't a thing until diseg ended.
Bottom line is public schools do it do. If you look and some of the more dominate public school (with Lamar being the exception) almost all are located just outside a much larger city.
Lets take school A for example. School a resides in a small town of just over 1800 people. This town i just outside of a city listed at just over 42,000. Now in the last 4 years town A has 5 state titles, 2 2nd places finishes, 3 3rd and 1 4th, along with 10 district titles in 5 different sports. Not that is simply amazing for a small school to be so good at everything.
Bottom line it is happening everywhere. Just pay attention.
Do you feel Lafayette County, Maryville, Monroe City etc. are really recruiting kids in the same fashion as STL Privates? I personally like privates still playing against public and don't have a complaint because as a competitor I would want to play the best teams, not separate them. But please don't sit here and say that it's happening everywhere and that public schools do it just as much.
