So, All State is finally out, and shootouts are starting to take shape..

Who do we think are favorites for next year? Who will emerge from the SE and NE after a couple of senior heavy teams will graduate their core players? I can only speak for who I've seen or heard about (which leaves out a ton of teams that are up and coming)

My Preseason top 8:
1. Walnut Grove
2. North Andrew
3. Scott County Central
4. Worth County
5. Meadville
6. South Holt
7. Advance

Who does everyone else have? I'd do a top 10, but I'm painfully ignorant of other teams that are just emerging.

I'd love to hear from everyone on thoughts about All-State and favorites for next year!

Teams of note that I don't know how much is returning:
Wheatland (21-6 last year)-Lost to Hermitage in Dist. Championship
Risco (25-2 last year)-Lost in District Championship to SCC
South Iron (21-6) (Lost to eminence in Sectional)
Eminence (20-10) (Lost to Advance in Quarterfinal)
Bradleyville (21-8) (District champ)
St. Elizabeth (12-15, but lost to Glasgow in Dist. Championship by only 10)
Madison (9-17, but lost to District Champ Chamois in OT in District Semifinal)
Northwestern-Mendon (24-3, lost to Meadville in District Championship)
Mercer (22-6) upset in District Title Game by Worth County
Jefferson (21-8) (lost to North Andrew in Sectionals)
Mound City (16-12) Lost to Jefferson in District Final

Who am I leaving out? We need a SE missouri voice...maybe metrodude or mfloyd can tell us what's up down that way.

I will reply but you can't keep this thread going through the pre-season next year...

NW MO
North Andrew and WoCo get everything back.....both will be tough.
Congrats to Coach Morley on being selected as Class 1 "Coach of the Year'.
.
Winston, Jefferson, Braymer and Mercer all graduate key players and will
be reloading. There is still talent coming in those programs but 3 of the 4 teams
should be better the year AFTER next.
Braymer may be a little more senior laden next year....can they live without Miller and Hall?

SJC lost Hartigan and Willhite but still have some talent.
(note-They do a nice job hosting games...newer facility, live streaming games, music, announcing, etc.)
.
Someone else will have to jump in about Mound City and South Holt.

I agree that Walnut Grove and Meadville will return to the top 10.
Not sure on the rest.
It's never "going out on a limb" to pick SCC.
Why don't you pick Tom Brady to be a decent quarterback next year?
ha ha

thanks YDKM
appreciate your good work
Say it with me....GO BEARCATS

St. Elizabeth has all the freshmen coming back. Has a really good shooter in 7th grade this year. Expect great things from them next few years if they stay healthy

Will anyone even come close to stopping Walnut Grove from getting back to the Final 4? Seems like several of the teams in that region will be down next year.

Eminence returns everyone, played a lot of sophomores this year. Dora will be another team to watch out for as they will have an outstanding freshman class including the coach's triplets.

Heard there is some stuff going on down there with their coach. I think its parents who are sad that freshmen are better their kids. You know how that can go sometimes.

Yep, and just because a kid has been on planet earth a year or two longer, it certainly doesn't qualify them over a kid that has played way more games and practiced hundreds of hours more.

So, the final MOBCA Poll came out:
Class 1

1 Walnut Grove 30-3

2 Advance 26-7

3 North Andrew 29-2

4 Glasgow 27-4

5 Winston 26-1

6 Hermitage 27-4

7 Greenfield 22-3

8 Scott County Central 23-7

9 Braymer 21-7

10 Jefferson 21-8

I would say leaving Worth County off and including the team they eliminated at #9 is probably off base. Any other omissions?

You could say the same for Meadville.
As for me, I would have listed the Elite 8, then Braymer 9 and Winston 10.

Dang, you don't think a team with a 23-7 record, and a 19 point loss in sectionals, should be in the top ten?

What a homer !!
