Class 1 District 4

It could literally be first round.
Pierce city to Thayer
Season 5 No GIF by The Office

Hayti (one of the poorest districts in the state) somehow kept the doors open.

Enjoy the next one
Is this what Joe Taxpayer wants our schools spending money on?

It'd be nice if districts were 'regional' at least.

They messed up class 1 badly . Whoever is behind it should be ashamed. Maybe get input from the affected districts instead of trying to use what 'works' for class 6.

Guess what: Class 6 schools are focused around 2 urban areas for the most part.

Just silly. It's almost like someone wanted to keep class one below a certain number.

I have Hayti in C1D1 and Paris in C1D2 in 2008. Paris went to Hayti in the 1st round of the playoffs when they were taking the top 2 from each district and Paris was #2 in their district.
MSHSAA shows it as a district quarterfinal game, but that doesn't seem right. Regardless, I basically made that same trip 2 years ago and it was no fun!

I'm not typically in the business of municipal politics or speculating how people want there money spent. However, if anything I would think most Joe Taxpayers would prefer to have their money put toward opportunities/experiences for the youth in their communities rather than some of the actual stuff its being spent on.

Despite this $$ debate, I'll admit the changes effect the competitiveness of this class significantly. That more than anything would be why I don't like the system. I'm just not on board with pretending this is a money issue

Obviously. All I’m saying it’s only 1 round earlier than this type of travel has occurred before, and question whether it’s really that big of a deal
Van Far to Chaffee could happen. 218 miles
Chaffee to Tipton 280 miles
Chaffe to Fayette 263 miles

Class 1 district 2 has some miles to cover!

Semantics of two 4 Team Districts vs one 8 Team district
No it's not semantics. You gave an example of a 'district' game that wasn't actually true.

This isn't out of the realm of possibility (and more likely than not to happen)

Hayti to Ash Grove- 4 hours 36 mins one way
PC to Portageville- 4 hours 54 mins one way
Miller to Charleston- 4 hours 23 mins one way

These are district games.

Not playoffs.

Horrible decision by ..well..whoever decided this was a good idea.

Been too easy to split it all evenly OR

40 class 1 and 40 class 6.

8 districts with 5 teams.

But nah. class 1 is a train wreck.

Not that big of a deal since games are on fridays. I remember when Tipton traveled to Hayti for a play off game on a week day. Back when they played every 5 days. Principal said be at school the next day and on time!

If you're truly denying that 8=8 because the system was slightly tweaked back then you've got me in a bind. No doubt about it.

At the end of the year, the good teams are always going to be willing to travel. It's the bad teams that won't beat anybody within 5 hour radius anyway that will complain and likely forfeit. If it happens, it will be unfortunate but how many rules/restructures have to be in place to keep bad teams playing in November

All teams will play in November because MSHSAA has teams playing in Dec. Pretty soon Hs football will be competing with the new years eve bowl games.

It shouldn't be required to travel 5 hours one way for a district game.

Playoff games? Fine and dandy.

Again , 40 in class 1 and 40 in class 6. 8 districts with 5 each would keep these games 'local' as much as possible.

If they had to make a 'change'.

Otherwise just divide them all and split evenly.

This is the worst decision I've ever seen from MSHSAA and man that's high bar.

Potentially explains the loss to North Platte.
You lose a good player or have one severely banged up in small school football, that can make all the difference.
I think North Platte is greatly improved from a couple years ago when they had lost 22 straight.

Oh I’m not saying they’re not, I just mean if this means Gallatin was without their QB or if he was really banged yup, that’s going to make a difference.
If they’re like most Class 1 programs up there, they probably only have 25-35 players to begin with and 10 or so being freshman
