Didn’t see this one happening. Mahomes not a able to get anything going second half

Wasn't much good at all from the Chiefs. They couldn't stop the Raiders and couldn't get anything going on O. The O-line was plain awful. Lack of speed at the LB position was more evident than ever too.
Hate the Raiders but the were so much better yesterday.
Chiefs aren't done losing, they have a lot to fix. Andy will get them right!

The loss was the best thing that could have happened to them at this point in the season. They will bounce back provided that they can stay healthy. The Raiders were absolutely jacked... they could not have played any better. It was a long time coming for them and they earned it.

The Osemele injury is HUGE. His backup (#75) was a disaster. Credit the Raiders with pushing the pocket up the middle (Chiefs O Line weakness - pays to remember LDT left the NFL for a year to MD in Canada) causing Mahomes lots and lots of distress.

If they lost Watkins long term (another who never seems to stay healthy for long) that will also hamper them BUT we've seen this movie with Andy Reid before. He will adjust the offense accordingly. Chiefs will be JUST FINE. Nothing cures ills like a loss.

Also the Chiefs are EVERYBODY'S Super Bowl this year. Why repeating is soooooo hard to pull off in this modern NFL.

The offensive line didn't play great but they weren't awful. Mahomes didn't look that great either. He bailed out of pockets when he didn't need to, made some poor decisions, and let's not forget we had TWO touchdowns pulled off the board. We'll be ok, the OL will improve, I think Mahomes will get in the film room and correct some mechanical issues. It's perfectly fine to lose a random week 5 game to a division rival, we've got 11 games to go and plenty of time to improve.

Spot on Mr. Hat... Osemele was a huge pickup for the Chiefs. The guy is a roadgrader ! Other than Kelce, Watkins is the only possession receiver that the Chiefs have. When he went out, they tried to use Demarcus Robinson in his place and we saw how that (didn't) work out. The league seems to be slowly adjusting to the way that the Chiefs do things offensively. They had better get their $h!t together !

The "League" always adjusts. That's why I do the slight giggle when these lofty predictions of championships are made. We see it every few years with guys(Cam Newton, Lamar Jackson for example) and it rarely lives up to that expectation. Chiefs will be good for a long time. And as long as the league caters to offense, they will put up points. But it's going to hard to repeat this year, or any year for that matter. What Tom Brady and the Patriots did for all of those years, is un heard of. They are not the standard.

The window opens and closes so fast anymore.

Enough Chiefs talk. I have to go back to reading about how bad of a coach Mike Zimmer is......

Good stuff Kenkster... The Chiefs should be good for the forseeable future. That being said, they have some obvious concerns coming out of the Raider fiasco. Their offensive line was horrible. The Chiefs could not run the football at all. As a result of that, the Raiders simply teed off and came after Mahomes with some success. They set a blueprint for defeating the Chiefs.

see, to me I think saying things like they sat a blueprint to beat the Chiefs is a little hyperbolic. Does the blueprint involve hoping two touchdowns get swiped off of the board? Does it involve hoping the 3rd strings LG comes into the game? Change those things and the blueprint goes out the window. I've noticed teams don't blitz the Chiefs like they used to, especially now that 4 guys can get pressure against our less talented OL lineups. But I think as we adjust to others adjustments things should improve.

Will we repeat as champs? IDK it will be hard, but I'm not too worried by anything I saw Sunday.

The other thing people are forgetting is the Raiders had a 16 point lead with under 5 minutes to go and had to convert a fourth and one to finish out the game. It wasn't like the chiefs were dominated they were in the game until Carr took a knee. The chiefs are a team no lead is safe against.

Mahomes obviously in an incredible athlete who can throw from positions a normal human being cannot. But it sure seems the last few weeks that he is throwing too many passes without having himself use a proper throwing stance/mechanics.
You may have a case there... He does seem to get sloppy at times. As I eluded to above, his Oline has not been particularly good. They have not been able to run the FB and with each passing week opposing Dlines are pinning there ears back and rushing him. This became evident 2-3 weeks ago vs. the Chargers. The thing that I have noticed is that he is throwing off his back foot more often and overthrowing his receivers. That to me is in part to the pass rush that he is getting.

He definitely doesn't trust his guys yet, which is why he is bailing out of the pocket, not climbing properly, etc. But I think as he gets more comfortable and they get in the film room a lil more with the guys he currently has they will improve.

How do you "adjust" when you can't run the FB and can't stop the pass rush ?

Listening to sports radio yesterday was laughable. You would of thought the sky was falling.
The Raiders played like it was the Superbowl and the Chiefs still only lost by 8.

To start I think they'll stop running these 10 step drops that have Hill and Kelce making 2, 3, and 4 different moves before Mahomes releases the ball and I think they'll play more 2 TE sets with a FB in there to lead block on the runs. Just like once teams stopped blitzing so much they backed off of the screens and went far more vertical, I think in the coming weeks we'll see a lot more quick game.

My feeling is when games like this happen, Kelce usually comes back the next week with 10+ catches because they pull the deep shots back in and Kelce runs far more routes in the 5-12 yard area.

Raiders are the best team KC has played. Carr and Gruden on the same page is dangerous. The two teams may meet again in the playoffs.

I'm not saying they won't win again, this year or next. What I am saying is I think people under play the coaching in the NFL and their ability to adjust. Green Bay Packers have had two hall of fame QBs for the last 25 years and have two super bowls to show for it. Dan Marino was doing things "nobody ever saw before" and walked away with zero. Be glad they mustered that come back in the Super Bowl, or the narrative would be a little different this year I believe.

I am just stating the obvious here, but they will need to draft really well during Mahomes tenure, to be in a position to compete in the playoffs. A lot of money tied up in a few players rarely seems to work.
