This game represents all that is wrong with how MSHSAA sets up the post season

Delta is ranked #2 in Class 1 and Chadwick is #5 and they face one another in a sectional game. These teams should be matched up later but now one of the best teams will lose and be done for the season.

Chadwick travels 4 hours one way to Delta on a Tuesday night to play this game, in a gym that seats 900 people

Teams should be reseeded after districts are over and the games should be played at a neutral site. And they shouldn't have to make a 4 hour trip to get to the game site, especially when the game is during the week. Much less at a small gym with one team having home court advantage.

Hartville boys coach Brett Reed agrees (see link below). His team, ranked #2 in Class 2, is getting ready to play the #1 ranked Class 2 team (Eugene) in a sectional game

The teams in the district vote on where the district will be held. This vote is usually early in the season well before the district is seeded.

After you win districts the Sweet 16 or Sectionals should be reseeded, and 1 plays 16 and so forth.
Disagree. Most coaches only know about the quality of teams in their geographic area, especially in the smaller classes. Ranking of teams after districts would be a total crapshoot. And if you did so, what if team 8 is in the NW part of the state and team 7 is in the bootheel. That’s a heck of a road trip. They do need to go back to neutral sites for sectionals and quarterfinals but other than that the current system is better than trying to seed the playoffs

He sure did not complain last year when he got to host the game at Hartville! You can have it one way when it favors you and another way when it does not. I agree it is not the best system, but complain on both ends.

A committee could reseed the teams and play at neutral sites if travel exceeds so far in distance.

Yes. Lexington, played at Trenton. District games should be at the school.
1. Has enough seating.
2. In the center of the district.

Now it doesn't always happen that way but that would be the best scenario. I remember playing at Cameron for districts and they would have to have seating on the stage. That shouldn't happen. I believe I remember Newtown Harris hosting districts one time. Who in the heck came up with that should be tared and feathered.

I know it stinks when those scenarios happen but how about Staley and Park Hill South in the same district. 2 of the the top 5 teams in all classes and one will be at best district runner up. Who is supposed to reseed this. You have one committee to re seed 6 classes? Nobody has that kind of knowledge to do that. Then you start getting teams upset at the seeding and the travel. So you win a district championship on a Saturday then you have to turn around travel 3 hours on a Wednesday? Teams know that day who they are playing. When does this committee meet, Sunday morning so that Sunday night you know who and where you are playing. Are fans going to travel for that? This is regionally based for a reason. Yes every now and then you get #1 vs #2 in a sectional game. That just is how it is. It would cause more problems than it would solve.

And sometimes you get a #5 vs #2 sectional game where #5 wins by 26 points. Rankings aren’t always accurate.

There's a guy on X (Twitter) who does Missouri high school rankings based on SOS (strength of schedule) and other factors, similar to the RPI or Kenpom for college bball. Those rankings are way more accurate than what the coaches rankings are. That or something similar can be used. How the states that reseed now decide on the seedings can also be a guide to how to go about it.

Just find 5 smart people, like all of us on this forum lol, and we can come up with a good way to accurately seed the teams

The thing is it wouldn't be that difficult to pull this off. Sagarin and kenpom already have the models.

I remember back in 2000 for girls basketball districts where Nixa was #1 in the state and Reeds Spring was #2 and they played in the district championship game!
