I just saw on KFMO website that Central has suspended 3 players and their coach for tonight's game vs Whitfield??? Any word on this out there?

BREAKING NEWS: KFMOsports has learned that three Central boys basketball players have been suspended from the team for tonight's Sectional game vs Whitifield. The suspension stems from two separate prior incidents to which new information has come to light warranting the suspensions being levied. KFMOsports talked with Superintendent Desi Mayberry, HS Prinicipal Brad Coleman and Athletic Director Chad Bradley and all three confirmed the suspensions. Additionally, head coach Mike Harlow was also suspended and Adam Barton (former Fredericktown girls head coach) an assistant Central boys coach will be the acting head coach for the remainder of the season. Central plays Whitfield tonight in the Sectional round of the State Playoffs at 7:45p.

I heard that the 3 were given minor in possession charges and it was covered up by Coach Harlow. The 3 were seniors and I will not list their names but if you know the team you can make a pretty educated guess. This is very sad because they have a nice team and could have made some noise in the state tournament.

Find it hard to believe that as public as that info was the head coach was the only one in on it. I heard that same story prior to Christmas. Why now? No winners here. Everyone loses. Even the teams that were in their district. Cover ups always worse than the crime. Sad.

I can't believe the parents didn't know about this. Another case of parents doing the wrong thing because they are trying to protect their kid. Most schools have handbooks that have to be signed by parents, so that is where the cover up began

I wonder what the time table was. If this occurred before the district tournament and they played ineligible players what would that mean? It's a shame for whoever played them in the district finals. Correct, no winner here and no life lessons learned.

This is old news, like back during Christmas Tourney-can't believe it is just now coming to fruition. Pretty bone head decision of the coach and and admins.... You would think the North County students chanting "M.I.P." during the championship game of the Park Hills Tourney would have raised enough eyebrows to take action... Don't get me wrong, kids do this everywhere and the majority do not get caught. Kids do make mistakes, but that doesn't mean that when they make mistakes that they shouldn't have to learn their lessons the hard way. Shame on those who just swept this under the rug...

I know of a case where a player got so drunk he had to be taken to the emergency room. MIP charges were filed but in a sweetheart deal the PA dropped all charges. According to the MSHSAA standard he was facing no legal jeopardy and had no terms of a sentence to fulfill, served a short school issued suspension then started the rest of the season. Coach wasn't happy but the higher ups (friends of the parents) said he was eligible and that the coach had to play him. Within a few days of the season ending the charges were reinstated, plea struck, community service started.

Maybe its like the saying that drug test for professional athletes are really like IQ test, only the ones dumb enough not to figure out how to beat the test get caught. Central administration and parents just didn't try very hard.
