Heard Carthage’s QB Sappington is OUT with a broken hand. Rumor or truth? Major shakeup for this game.

According to the Globe they are both questionable - game time decisions, which usually means out. Injuries from the Neosho game apparently. Their backups are pretty solid and they have a deep lineup so it's definitely not a death sentence but will definitely makes things harder for Carthage and couldn't have come at a worse time really.

This game is for COC and bragging rights. Carthage has a shot to go deep in the playoffs need to get them healthy for districts not chance them playing this game.

Webb starting QB out so kind of evens out in the long run

Even though there are few things Carthage would rather do than beat their neighbors, if forced to pick I bet they would rather lose to Webb City than carry a lighter toolbox into post season. Similar thing happened a few years ago - Sr QB Derryberry broke his ankle week 1 at WC, backup (Guest) lead the team undefeated rest of way through regular season. I don't think Derryberry returned until the district final vs Belton. Personally I think this team is better overall than that 2015 team.
