This game is for the COC Large marbles. Curious to know everyone's thoughts on this game. I think Carthage goes into the game as the favorite to win after Webb City laid an egg at Branson last week. Carthage has beat the same opponents worse than Webb in three straight games. The atmosphere should be electrifying Friday night in Webb. I would be disappointed if there weren't 7,000+ on hand to watch. I cannot wait to be there to watch the two best heavyweights in SWMO slug it out. I'm going with Carthage 35-21.

Webb is the class of the COC Large until another team steps up and takes that away from them. Does Carthage have the coaching, talent and teamwork to do it? Absolutely. I just don't know how *likely* it is they can go into Webb in a rivalry game and walk away the winner. I'm certainly hopeful they will, though. And, I'm hopeful to make the trip down to witness it.

It will be a heck of a game . These kids were 5-6 years old the last time Carthage won a game and you have to go back 31 years to 1987 in the Tom Cox era for the win before that. its a big load to come into Cardinal Stadium and win.

It would help if Beason is back this week at QB for Webb (not a clue) so Hicks could move back to his linebacker spot on defense.

Cards 28 Tigers 14

FYI -

Carthage beat Webb and won the COC 2 seasons ago.

Those 5-6 year olds must have been pretty salty to win that game.

You might want to go back and look at the scores from the 2016 season. Your cardinal colored glasses have distorted your version of history.

1000 pardons I for my error. I think most people in Webb try to block that out of their memory. Since its just the 3rd tiger win in 30 years( is that right fact checkers???) you would think even an old guy could keep them straight

I kind of like the idea of WC as underdogs. Nothing like a challenge to excite the Chat pile gutter rats. Getting QB1 back, playing at home, and being collectively focused on the task at hand are a good recipe for a good result. You don’t pick against WC based on common opponent scores with varying conditions. That’s foolish at best.

Carthage looks better and bigger than they have in years. For once I'd pick Carthage, but if they lose, it will be their only loss in regular season. They should go deep in playoffs.
That’s impossible,,,according to all of the class5 “Metro” experts at least

Hope they get their tails kicked Friday night then win out!!

Totally Agree this has to be one of the better teams Carthage has fielded, They have size speed and skill.
But as good as Carthage is, it is still hard to pick against the Cards, but I really think this could be Carthage's year if they can stay healthy.

If I was Carthage, I'd stack the line because Webb city couldnt throw the ball down field to save their lives friday night.

In the Battle of Carthage it was the Roman General Scipio Aemilianus who laid waste to the city of Carthage , plowed and salted the earth so nothing would ever grow again.

Carthage better be glad they have a Wal Mart !!
Used to work at that Walmart 6 years ago.

Which one seems like a more relevant predictor?

1-1 against each other the past two seasons.
OR
Webb winning 10 of the past 11 or whatever it's up to now and 28 of 30.

????

One would think the latter.

But alas, this year's varsity starters didn't play in those earlier Webb wins before the most recent two games.

Well, maybe a few Carthage kids did as freshmen.

The past is the past. The Wizard sees this as the year of the Tiger. Carthage 24-21.

Has Webb ever got their punter back healthy?? kids got a heck of a leg and that could be big Friday night if he is playing again

Don't think their record against the Cards is not someplace deep in the minds of these current kids. However if you look at all of Webb's opponents who has fared any better in the last Decade, heck let's go back 2 maybe 3 decades.

But you are right the past is the past, and Carthage is pretty solid this year overall.

only problem if they get carried away cheating up and Henderson or Weathers gets a step on them I doubt anyone catches them.

Carthage has done better than any team not named Kearney that's for sure

I've not seen either team but to say the past is the past is one thing, to change it is quite another. Teams like Webb in tight games just expect to find a way to win while their opponents seem to find ways to get beat. Based on the past 10 years, Webb wins, Carthage has never played great defense, it is just not their focus. (no offense to players) but it is not. would be a great game to see. Webb wins.

Against common opponents Carthage has less points scored against them, and scored more on the offensive side. Both teams will have to have less mistakes to get the win.

Should be a heck of a game between 2 great programs. Webb is going to have to play their A+ game to walk away with a W. I think Carthage is the favorite, but I bet Coach Rod is telling them that too! It will be a great game and I hope Carthage goes a long ways come playoffs! Should be fun!

Wish Beason was back at QB so Hicks could move back to LB. Afraid Beason status will be a game day decision. If I had to bet I would think he doesn’t play

Excited about this game. Don't expect the margin of victory to be more than 7 either way unless Webb comes out unmotivated like the Branson game. 28-24 Webb. Is my guess.

I’m fairly certain Carthage expects to win the game.

35-27 Carthage. Webb for once is over matched up front, and the speed of Carthage is too good. I think it will be 35-20 and Webb scores a long one late.
