Last time Carthage won it late! For Carthage to win no turnovers! They have to stop stalling in the redzone! Last Carthage has to play to win not play not to lose! Coach Guidie gets real tight in his play calling when in big games!
I didn't realize it was being held on Saturday. That seems strange considering the close proximity of the two schools. Not that I am complaining, I like Saturday games. All the other Class 5 games are on Friday night. Why is this game on Saturday afternoon? Anyone know?
I know we are late in the season, and the only teams left are the ones who really want it but, I'm going to say Carriage is going to be hungry for this W, and I'll take them by 3 TDs
Nixa is peaking at the right time, and they will win this game handily. Their overall record is deceptive because they had some key players injured earlier in the year, and those players have returned. In addition, the revamped offense with the change at QB is more potent. The score of the Republic game does not truly reflect the degree to which Nixa dominated the game, especially in the second half. It was 31-10 at the end of the third quarter, and for all practical purposes the game was over.I know Carthage beat Nixa earlier in the season without Derryberry, but I have heard that Nixa is getting better week by week and that they have switched QB's...
Nixa hasn't hosted as many gamesIt seems like a lot of people are favoring Carthage, though (not surprisingly) the o-zone guys both picked Nixa. Carthage is not the same team, and with some change-ups neither is Nixa from the sound of it. Hopefully Carthage isn't looking past this game, thinking their previous defeat of Nixa without Derryberry means this one is already in the bag. If they think that, they will find themselves in a hole quickly.
Both teams really want this game, so I think regardless of the outcome it will be hard fought.
Does anyone happen to know why it's at Nixa instead of Carthage? I am not sure how the location is determined beyond districts.
I think Republic was the top seed in that district so Nixa probably had to play at Republic. Which I kind of get, but that system seems to give a home advantage to lower seeds, right?I also could be wrong about Nixa hosting 2 games, I just thought I had heard that they have hosted 2 as well.
You might actually be right. A bye doesn't count as a hosted game..Actually I think they have both hosted 2 games (Carthage had a 1st round bye) so either the bye counts as a home game or I have also heard that if 2 teams have hosted the same amount of games then this year (odd year 2015) the team on the top of the bracket host the game. Next year is a (even year 2016) and the team on the bottom of the bracket will host.. not 100% sure on that, just how it was explained to me when I asked the same question..
It is set up so that its all one seeds have won.. I don't like it, but I think it's probably as fair as your going to get...I think Republic was the top seed in that district so Nixa probably had to play at Republic. I guess the assumption is that any team that is left this deep in the game is going to be good regardless of their initial seeding.
I believe Carthage will be focused on nixa to avenged last years lost in the quarterfinals. It seems like a lot of people are favoring Carthage, though (not surprisingly) the o-zone guys both picked Nixa.
