Always a fun one. Last week WC was handled by a good CJ team and looked worse than expected. Carthage lost to an Ozark team that was expected to finish near the bottom of the COC. Both teams suffered excessive turnovers and penalties. Carthage has more experience at QB but both appear very weak at the line and struggle offensively.

It’s difficult to imagine WC sustaining back to back conference losses after going perfect, but is this game up for grabs? It will be interesting to see how these teams bounce back from week 1. One of the top 2 teams from last year will start 0-2.

I would agree that defense will hold Carthage. Will the offense be able to score? 28+ would be a step in the right direction.

Real hard to say where we are, especially offensively. We missed a ton of reads in addition to turning it over a ton. I see a lot of potential for improvement. I'm glad we have some time to see it. I don't think Carthage is very strong this year so we'll see.

Wont be pretty but I think Webb will come out on top.
I think that is probably right. I don't think anything should be taken for granted. I do think it will turn out to be that CJ is a very good team but all we really know is they were better than WC was on Friday.

I do suspect there will be considerable improvement from last week.

If there is not then we will see considerable personnel changes during the game or the next week.

I see Webb winning by at least 3 TD's. A good talented team who feels their back is against the wall ... Webb will come out sharp and fighting hard. You never want to play a team as talented as Webb and who has the history of Webb after last week's performance. Carthage will be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The only thing I can say is the effort and intensity will be better. While I think most of WC's problems are fixable, non except the above mentioned will get fixed in a week. An error free three touchdown win is asking a lot.
The flip side is Carthage felt they would have a pretty solid season as well, they prolly feel their backs are against the wall as well.

I agree but, Carthage may well have been overlooking what was expected to be an easy win looking forward to their biggest game of the year. Whoever (probably Webb) gets the early edge will have a big edge in the mental game.

I had a coach that told me once that you never want to be some one's angry game. That meaning you never won't to play a talented team after they played terrible the game before, even if it was against a good opponent. Talented teams tend to never feel that they got beat, but that they lost a game. 7 or 8 turnovers is a team losing the game, in my opinion.

I think Webb will be a team that no one will want to face tonight. A lot of physical play and hard hitting tonight.

I would agree with the physical play. The 7 or 8 turnovers did the lose the game. The big question 4.5 hours before the game is.......can they hold onto the ball in wet conditions after not holding onto the ball in dry conditions. TBD

Not going to be raining ball should be fine.

Besides Webb has always been mudders

It can't be any harder to hold on to a wet ball than that dry one

My feeble opinion is that Webb had a down week last week, and C.J. rose to the opportunity. I cannot see that happening again soon.

I don't see that happening again either, but if the pieces just aren't there then it's anyone's game. We don't know until the game is played. That's what makes it fun! Supposedly there were people lining up at noon.

Congrats to Carthage and their fans. Very sportsman like effort by their kids. If you read my post from the other day all I knew would be fixed in a week was the effort and intensity. That was better. WC took some steps forward on the offensive side of the ball and I think that will continue to get better as qb gets more comfortable and the o-line gets back to full strength and back to their original places. The defense was a head scratcher, props to CHS for playing aggressive.

I don't see that happening. We have a very good junior class and even better soph and fresh class. Problem is we have seniors in key positions that haven't put in the work as it appears. Just appears that way watching. May not be the case. However, there is also a difference in not giving seniors a chance and giving them a chance and them not making the grade. At some point you have to start looking into this soph class and giving them some much needed experience bc we won't have a lead this year for them to play. There will be a down year every now and again. It's seventeen years for this one and it may only last one, maybe one and a half seasons but when it comes down to it......enjoy the kind words from other schools fans because one-two down years in every twenty years isn't too shabby.

Not that it is an excuse but have starters been out on the offensive line? I thought that would be the strength of the offense this year and through the first 2 weeks they have struggled.

Lack of talent or lack of effort, haven't quite put my finger on it yet but something is very wrong with Webb. I think its funny that the normal platitudes said about Webb are the furthest from the truth this season.

One out this week, lots of shuffling because of his absence. I believe the push was much better this week but still struggling to get to the second level and clean up the LB's. Gossett seemed like the only one i seen getting downfield
We are just not used to our improvements being in such minuscule increments.

When was the last time that Webb didn't have one of their top 3 athletes at QB? It is necessary to the offense that the QB get to the edge. WC will get better. I don't what better means in terms of wins and losses but they will improve and still be a strong opponent come districts.

A lot of pressure on the QB at Webb each year. Only really clicks when split decisions are made to perfection. This team is young and inexperienced. It takes alot of guts to step into that position in any system. I give our boys alot of credit for staying with it and especially our QB for stepping into that position with very little experience. Give him/them time. Last years team improved very little thru the year. Maybe this years team will.

Well the fact that Webb's defense played all but about 3 minutes of the 3rd quarter probably had something to do with it. Lol. I think Webb will get rolling eventually this team is just a few steps behind where we normally expect them to be. Probably not gonna make much of a splash come playoff time but that's ok. Future looks bright for Webb. That one sophomore receiver we have seems to have the skills to be a pretty great weapon.
