Carthage at Webb,,,,,WHO you got

If I say Webb, my own personal troll will appear.
I guess we'll see how well McFarland can adjust. Carthage has a couple not insignificant injuries. Then again, a lot of odd things have happened with Carthage this season so if there's a time to do it, it's now.

And just like the first match it was back and forth the first half. The second half neither team allowed the other to score. This game it could come down to who makes a mistake because the other will capitalise and win.

I wouldn't call the first game a fluke, it was what it was, but I don't think those factors repeat plus WC will have a key player on the field which will open up some better options for them have more success doing what they are truly good at instead of whatever it was they did at Carthage.

Carthage has a knack for giving up huge plays and/or getting down early. That won't work tomorrow. If they get down early they will end up leaning on low percentage risky plays that could put them even further behind. Not saying Carthage can't win - obviously they can and may, but I wouldn't put my money on it. You never know how a game will play out, what unexpected factor comes into play.

If you look at the numbers this Carthage team has the most points allowed since I believe 2013. And they have the lowest output on offense in I don't know how long. In spite of that here they are playing for a district championship. They got a great memorable win over a key rival and turned what looked like a dumpster fire of a season into one that most teams would trade for in a heartbeat. So hopefully the players and fans remember that regardless of whether tomorrow goes their way or not. Not many teams get to play at all tomorrow let alone in a situation with convenient geography for both teams. Doesn't get any better than that for a friday night in November IMO.

Getting RB #20 back from injury after going down week 2 is huge - he will keep the running back's legs fresh in a rotation that also includes #19, #37 and sophomore #4. Add sophomore QB #3 and his legs, and that's a lot for Carthage defense to cover.

I think Webb wins by 10.

But I believe that's as far as Webb City goes this year.

Offensively I can see something similar for Carthage from the first game, it’s no secret they want to control the clock with 3 or 4 yards a play. Big thing will be if the o-line shows up, if they can’t control the line of scrimmage it’ll be tough tonight.
Defensively for Carthage, like everyone has already said, having Jackson back along with Johnson being fully healthy definitely changes the game plan. Having seen every Carthage game this year, it seems like other than at Joplin there’s been good adjustments made at halftime and the defense has tightened up and made plays to secure the wins. They will have to play pretty close to perfect tonight to win, otherwise it’s going to be hard to stop Webb.

I think Webb finds a way to win this one. PC beat both Smithville and KARKNEE. So I’m not sure I see Webb getting past them. But crazier has happened.

PC must have a bye this week?? I thought the schedule showed them playing Grain Valley who handled PC 45-24 earlier this year. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Im sorry did Grain Valley fall off the face of the planet or have a few kids abducted by aliens? Im not saying Grain Valley is going to wipe the floor with PC because they are a solid team. However GV beat them week 4 AT PC without 1 of their top WR''s. If I was a betting man I would put my $$$ on GV in this one.

Great news though no easy games after tonight for anyone

Nah, not discounting anyone. Simply didn’t remember to mention GV in the post.lol I understand you can only react to what’s in the post. But it’s not that serious. I’m sure that game is going to be a dandy, unless GV just has a unique read on them.

Also out of curiosity, what cardinal team peaks your interests? What’s the team behind your handle?

Think we will get any pitching? The big problem imo is we need a lot more than that.
We come away with 2 top tier pitchers most likely 1 via FA and 1 via trade. I think Cease comes via trade and most likely gray via FA. We are a Darkhorse to get Montgomery back if we can get them 2 done quickly and show him we are ready to win. Our biggest problem i see not getting fixed is chemistry/morale which is from the head coach and front office. I said this last year and i will say it again. The Head coach and Front office jumped all over tyler o'neill for mailing it in on some plays yet they mailed in all last offseason. You cant expect your players to go out and show they want to win more than you went out and showed you wanted to win in the offseason. I could honestly rant on this all day but ill stop here lol

I’m not liked by most fans, because I’m “critical” I just expect the second most richest in tradition and in winning to organize like it far more often. We also shouldn’t be a franchise that scraps from the trash for management,

I visited with some friends about this game today, some interesting takes. The general take from the Carthage side was nothing really to lose. Hope they win, but this game if they lose so be it. The young and inexperienced team already turned a bad start into a very respectable season no matter how this game goes.

The tension from several of the Webb folks seemed unusually high. They see this as a high pressure, must-win game, the game that will define the new coaching season as either positive or negative. Losing next week won't matter, relatively speaking. Losing this week will matter A LOT.

Everyone I've talked to has pretty much said the same...but i think the way it happens will matter. If Webb comes out and just dominates, then fine...but if it's a close game with some dooflunky plays or calls determining the game, it will be as frustrating as ever.

Carthage started out good then it all went down from there.

I think this week is pretty big for Webb. The new coach needs to keep the state titles going so kids keep moving in.

I disagree. Last week was 'the' game. But that alone isn't going to make a dent - maybe another season or two or three of not advancing out of district and it could start to have an impact. But IMO even if it was no longer the place to move they are already good for at least 5 if not the next 10 years to be in the top third of the COC just based on talent and participation levels. Winning or losing next week won't change that. But losing last week would have stirred up some frustration for sure.

Regardless I thought WC the last 2 weeks looked like a team that could go all the way. Would not shock me one bit. Granted, smashing this particular Carthage team isn't necessarily a great test but I hadn't seen the Tigers so stymied on offense all season. Aside from that late garbage TD they struggled to get more than a yard or two at a time. Only 2 first downs I believe until late in the game and one of those was on a trick play.

So stout defense and an offense with a variety of weapons, I think they are going to be tough for anyone.
