Carthage 34 Ozark 20 - Final

Carthage is up 7-0. Looked like ozark would be forced to punt again but a lucky desperation heave instead of taking a sack was caught and after a few missed tackles ran down to the 20 so ozark is looking to tie it up.

13-7 Carthage now but ozark starting with excellent field position and plenty of time.

… and tie game. Ozark burns Carthage on another big play td. But blocked kick. So now Carthage will have a shot to retake the lead into half, poor field position though.

Should be 2-0 Carthage after a missed Intentional Grounding call in the end zone
No mention of the phantom DPI call and missed block in the back on successive snaps that gifted Carthage their third score? That ruins a good narrative, huh?

sw5980…I’ve got my answer on Carthage. They’re just not very good. Absolutely no size and not very athletic.

What is it with this team and giving up desperation touchdowns with no time on the clock?

This game is looking like how I expected them to be from the start. Pretty capable offensively, but weak on defense.

poor tackling by Carthage.
They’ve missed a ton of tackes in this game. I will say that dang it sure looked like that kid was down and got back up to run and score. But they missed about 7 tackles prior to that on the play.

Kid wasn't as down as the webb kid was in the district title game two years ago...this one was impressive.
We need to move on from that one.

Question though for anyone with insight. Is the short kicking by Carthage a strategy or just a limitation of the kicker? Seems like opponents are starting around the 35-40 yd line almost every kickoff.

Carthage just got a huge break recovering a fumble just before a likely ozark score. If they can go up by another score that will help their cause because they are NOT stopping ozarks run.

Got the score. Up by 2 tds now but ozark again with excellent field position and running about 10 yards per play.

Blue tigers appeared to go up by 3 scores on another big TD called back on a holding penalty (second of the night). But it mattered not, they were still able to run out the clock.

As I mentioned, this game is very representative of what I expected from this team from the start. Nothing like last year offensively, but still quite capable. In my opinion the Oline has improved a bit from the start of the season. Defensively they struggle and are easy to beat around the perimeter and allowing their opponents to takeover around the 35-40yd line consistently makes the defenses job more difficult.

One thing I will give this team credit for... I think they may be a bit better passing than the last two Carthage teams.

That's because they haft to be . They don't have Superman in the backfield this year . Last year . Defense blows up the play ....gall for 3 yards . Defense doesn't kick the o lines ass but it neural. Gall 7 yards . Offensive line opens a hole. Td Carthage

Replay showed was right call. He was literally on top of the guy that tackled him. Strangest looking play I’ve seen in a while.

QB made some impressive throws. The one rolling right where he threw back across the field was not an easy throw. Outside the hash to outside the hash some 25 yds downfield. Granted he was never pressured and the Ozark DBs didn’t exactly have blanket coverage, but he still had to execute some throws. I was impressed by his arm.

Helps the passing game when the qb isn't 5'7...they don't have anyone as good as Moore was last year although the current TE is quite impressive.

Yeah he was fast and experienced, his height just worked against him once at the varsity level. And the kid before him hadn’t played QB before that year I believe but he could sure run.
