I don't know why everybody keeps forgetting CJ handled West Plains last year on the road. They return almost everybody so it's not like they forgot how to play and West Plains could improve that much more.

I listened to the 4th quarter of that game last year. At one point CJ was up 28-7 but WP did rally late to cut it to 28-21.

Frog, you are correct but if memory serves me correct (cause at my age it slips more frequently) Buck played quite a few 2nd & 3rd teamers' during that part of the game....so they could be part of the game.
Think he knew we were going to advance to the championship vs WC & 1st team would get 99% of the snaps.

I think Beshore played defense in that 2013 game. also think he played a few offensive plays. will have to go back and watch film on the game.

Yes, Beshore played on defense that night. But, instead of defending CJ's top receiver, I can't remember the kids name, he was on the 3rd or 4th best. Bailey tried to hide him as much as possible. He also tried to play some offense late in the game but, after a couple tries, he came to the sidelines and told Coach Bailey that he couldn't plant and make cuts. Lamar also had other players on the sideline as well. But, none were all-state caliber players, with the ability to take over a game on both sides of the ball.

Regardless of who I think was better, that was one of the best high school games I have ever seen.

I don't think I have talked to a person yet, who was at that game, who hasn't told me that-that was the best game they had ever seen in their life.....at any level. I believe I have to agree

I was at that game. I was there from 4:30 until the yardage markers were picked up. The human mind protects itself from traumatic events by blocking memories. I don't remember a thing. This must be how Mountain View Liberty fans feel like.

I've never felt as many ups and downs as I did that night. Last year lived up to the hype with the biggest crowd I've ever seen at a HS game, and then having it come down to the game winning FG being blocked as time ran out.

I just wish even with CJ leaving the Big 8 they could have figured out a way to keep it a rivalry game and play it at MSSU or something. Neither teams facility is anywhere close to being able to handle the type of crowds this game has been drawing. Pretty awesome for high school sports...

I bet Lamar vs. Webb City would be a big draw as well.would love to give the under dog a chance but Webb would have nothing to gain and everything to lose. I love the idea of a Saturday afternoon double header with Pittsburg vs Webb and Lamar vs Ft. Scott at Pitt st.

Two very exciting teams when they have the ball. Very little defence. That goes for both teams.

For Carl to even see Webb they will have a formidable task in my opinion beating West Plains. You are right, though, this game will tell a lot about them.

It did, and the schedule they play also lines up well with what we should have figured. cJ has talent and is fun to watch when they dont play against strong teams. Cj was arm tackling Lamar 3-4 times on plays to the outside that would have been for a loss against kids that were trained better. Typical of a buckmaster team. Lamar would then turn the corner for 15-20 yards. Lamar is very impressive against a middle to upper middle class 4 team that has been way over rated due to their schedule. Same is probably true for others and we'll figure out who those are as the playoffs shape up. I still think West Plains/CJ could be a good game but whats that say about West plains?

Correct; CJ will have to face Webb in the second round of districts (assuming the Bulldogs take care of business against 3-6 Marshfield).
