I'll be honest, I really think this could be the sleeper game of the week for the Ozarks, Ozark almost got Neosho last week and be a Carthage 28-14 who beat Webb by 2 TDs as well. I guess we'll see if I'm wrong tonight.
I think this will end up a close game if Ozark is as good as they look by score board watching. LolCarl Junction 35 - Ozark 21..
Ozark 21 - CJ 14 Hate to see CJ come into the Big COC and go 3-0.
Maybe just me.
What does that say about the BIG 8, WOW they play some great ball over there. Did C only win the Conference 1 time. and not out right?
To brag on the Big 8 a bit, remember that this is a conference that boasts several 21st century state titles or championship game appearances. In addition to Lamar, both Cassville and Seneca have been there. Monett has made some nice runs too. Many years Aurora and Mt. Vernon have been hard to handle and of course years ago East Newton went all the way too.
Size? Since most of those schools are Class 3 and CJ is Class 4, there is not as big of a discrepancy as many think. Many years the rosters of these teams were similar or larger than CJ's.
So what happened in 2013 that seems to have made a difference? Well, that happens to have been the arrival of Coach Buckmaster. He wouldn't take credit for any win, but he deserves a ton of credit for turning these guys into winners.
Chaotic, don't miss my point here. Take Webb and Lamar out of the equation and the whole southwest Missouri area has much fewer state titles. But of those, most would come from the Big 8. Zero I think from the OC and COC???
Take Lamar out of that conference and then check the state title count in the 21st century. 2 or 3 maybe? 4?
I heard the Southwest Conference used to win state titles every other year. Oh wait. That was just Webb City.
Tonight will be very interesting up here..............AT LAST no severe weather issues!WOW, whatever is in the air must be really good.......From the Football Ive seen played and heard on the radio Kearney houses the COC by 40 right now...I havent seen good Football played yet...just saying, sorry.
I imagine CJDad2017 would strongly disagree with this takeWOW, whatever is in the air must be really good.......From the Football Ive seen played and heard on the radio Kearney houses the COC by 40 right now...I havent seen good Football played yet...just saying, sorry.
Here is how the Big 8 has fared in the last 10 years. Thanks to Webb, CJ is the only one to not make an appearance in at least the quarters.
06 - MV Quarters, Lamar Quarters
07 - EN Semis, MV Quarters
08 - Cassville Champs
09 - Cassville Champs, Lamar Semis
10 - Cassville Semis, Lamar Semis
11 - Lamar Champs, Cassville Quarters
12 - Lamar Champs, Monett Semis
13 - Lamar Champs, Seneca Runnerup
14 - Lamar Champs, Monett Semis
15 - Lamar Champs, Aurora Semis
Would love to see this compared to some of the NW and Central conferences. I would do it but don't know them well enough.

Just like last year it is very hard at this stage to really know about the Dogs. I do agree, however, about the D at this still early point. It looks pretty pass vulnerable. Not convinced about Kearney. The defense is suspect. Their Achilles is the deep pass. They ran into a D1 level DT from Grandview that slowed them down. However, they wore him out in the 2H. We'll know more about Kearney after Liberty North. If they don't beat them by 14, then they will not beat Staley. They also have Platte County who they beat every year, but PC has a prolific passing attack.
On another note you don't just up and replace what they had on D last year........Not convinced about Kearney. The defense is suspect. Their Achilles is the deep pass. Platte County always has good skill position talent. The physicality on the lines hurts them vs. the major opponents. For Kearney to win weeks 8-9 they have to establish that physicality especially on offense. If someone asked me today about those games I'd say split (lose to Staley and beat PC).Not sure PC matches well with Kearney.
Their passing attack only works if the Defense respects the run.
Past Platte County offenses relied to much on the pass with average to above average QBs.
With the exception of the Kelso kid and his predecessor about 4 years ago, just not seeing it after the Oak Park game.
Will go out on the broken limb and predict that 45 points will not get past K-Town's Defense from PC.
Nor will 55 from Staley, home or away.
