I have really only one rule - all participants must shotgun a beer (or take a shot of their favorite libation) on the second tee. Why second tee you may ask? Because it would be gosh to do that on a respectable course on the first tee of course.

4A has already began since the Class is almost twice the size of the top two (hence why they expanded to 7 classes next cycle). 2nd round South (top half of bracket unlike above two classes)...

One of the keys to the 7 class deal is unlike MO where it seems so many small schools don't field FB teams (they now tend to co-op) virtually all of them in MS do. Going to HS without FB is almost unimaginable in the deep South LOL.

@thetophat2021 won't go over everything but Madison Central won tonight with a big 2nd half comeback 30-21 over South Panola. Sets up a killer match up with undefeated Tupelo who won easily 42-0 next Friday night.
Thanks! That will be a HUGE one. Madison Central is that dangerous from-off-the-pace type of team I always like this time of year.

Okay...I'm going to hijack now, just because Top has Hattiesburg knowledge. What is Hattiesburg like? Wife wants to move south when I can retire. Could be 7 or 10 years (rule of 86 might be too hard to pass up), but we're planning now. She'll still be working. Perks of marrying a younger lass. I'll be able to play golf guilt-free for a good 10 years. I REFUSE to do FL. Too GD many people. But basically want the year round golf forecast if I'm going to pack up and move. Have considered Charlotte area, but don't think the weather is winter warm enough. Hattiesburg-ish has come up. She likes Savannah, but the schools suck and I don't think I want THAT close to beaches. I've got my sites set on Lake Oconee in GA, but I know I'll have to stick it out to rule of 86 to make that happen. I wouldn't mind a college town/metro area an hour or so away, merely for the sports entertainment. But needs to be far enough away I don't have to put up with a ton of people. Hattiesburg seems to relatively fit that a bit.
Had Some cousins lived in Hattiesburg in the 80's then moved to Wiggins now live in Biloxi. Been down that way alot, Really not a bad area.

I am not doing the usual Friday late late night due to Saturday games in MO but know the major rounds in OK, AR and TX really begin next week. KS finals are next weekend I need to check the results there to see how our neighboring KC metro schools fared..............

Gardner-Edgerton is the talk of KC metro KS HSFB came out of nowhere now face Manhattan in the 6A title game! Mill Valley is a machine should easily win 5A (again) and Bishop Miege topped Aquinas and should thrash Wamego next week and return to the top of 4A.

Wild, strange game tonight in West Point. First off, I've never seen a referee crew not call forward progress as down as consistently as this crew. They either waited until the ball carrier was down on the ground no matter the circumstance or on a few occasions would blow the whistle when the ball carrier was literally lifted off the ground and carried backwards. More 1922 football than 2022.

Neshoba Central came to play. Back and forth slobbernocker until West Point took a two score lead early in the 4th. Nephew had a XP blocked earlier in the game that was corrected by a two pointer on the next TD, and had a second one blocked on the last TD for the 13 point lead. They scored and had a muffed snap midway through the 4th, held West Point on the next possession and scored the final TD of the game with around 1:30 remaining. Decided to go for two and the win right there. Nephew blew up the play right up the gut to hold their dynamic QB for no gain. West Point recovered the onside kick, quickly got the first down they needed to kneel it out for the 34-33 win.

Didn't play their best, very undisciplined false starts and encroachments as well as two delay of game penalties, but gutted it out. Will have to clean all that up to get a win next week against a very good Vicksburg squad who will be in their first North Championship in the 12 years I've followed Mississippi football.

6A looks to be wide open. 5A cannot go anywhere but Picayune. A couple of interesting regular season rematches there especially Tupelo and Starkville. Just like Manhattan KS and Stillwater OK interesting MS State local HS is rolling, too.

Vicksburg is usually not on anyone's radar and dropped their opening two games then went on a roll. Nephew sounds like a real good one is he college FB bound?

6A is most certainly wide open, but I still think Brandon is the best team.

Picayune is no doubt the favorite in 5A to repeat, but if they face West Point again it will be closer than last year I think. They sure want a rematch.

4A is nothing but a formality. Louisville is rolling. Still think they are the best team overall.

He's concentrating on baseball offers, his first love but did pick up an offer in football this week. Don't know where he is leaning but it would be hard to ignore the financials that a football scholarship offers.

Finals are set:

6A Starkville vs Brandon
5A West Point vs Picayune
4A Louisville vs Mendenhall
Don't really follow 4A so will say give me Picayune and Starkville in the others. KS championships are tomorrow, too! Manhattan is, as mentioned the other day, another major FB university town with a shot at a largest class HSFB title. They should win and so should Stillwater in OK 6A D2 next week.

Starkville/Tupelo looks like it was an epic game. Ended up 41-32, but there were 4 lead changes in the 4th. Give me Brandon in that one.

Picayune clobbered Gautier. Prohibitive favorite, but West Point is doing West Point things with a pounding run game and bend but don't break D. Plus it's a revenge game from last year's championship.

Louisville will romp.

Looks like a massive shocker in OK tonight as Owasso, probably a 4-5 TD underdog, took down Union 50-47! Rams get upmover Bixby who revenged Jenks 28-14 this afternoon. Goes to show ya just never know.............

Still waiting on Cabot-Bentonville final. Winner faces defending champ and prohibitive Arkansas 7A favorite Bryant next week.
