You’ve GOT to be kidding me!!They say they're open to discussing bringing him back but the flexibility for roster money next season is not very good. Surely he will get a decent deal on the free agent market from somebody.
Do they really think some other team ain't gonna offer more than that for a GG 2nd baseman? He might even hit better somewhere else. I just saw the Birds have already committed to their entire coaching staff for next season. You’ve GOT to be kidding me!!

Completely done on metrics this yr. Statistically, he’s one of the best OFers in all of baseball. Too bad he can’t hit MLB pitching. Just another AAAA player. How did ONeill get on the GG lis this season?
He played LF and he is fast. He got to a lot more balls than most LFs do. That was a big reason his metrics were so good. How did ONeill get on the GG lis this season?
Hard not to think the total lack of revenue from ticket sales and concessions at the ballpark doesn’t figure into a lot of decision making. How long can MLB and NFL survive with just revenue from television contracts if this continues into next season???Flaherty

Granted I haven't followed it too much but did salaries get adjusted due to the lack of ticket revenue and the lower number of games? 3 million tickets and concessions to zero is a pretty big hit.Hard not to think the total lack of revenue from ticket sales and concessions at the ballpark doesn’t figure into a lot of decision making. I don’t have a clue, I think if I was a player I would be telling management I can play cheap until this is all overGranted I haven't followed it too much but did salaries get adjusted due to the lack of ticket revenue and the lower number of games? 3 million tickets and concessions to zero is a pretty big hit.
Salaries were adjusted for number of games, I don't know if anything was in there for loss of fans/revenue. There was a time before they figured out if they would have a season when the players union and owners had to do a little give and take on reduced salary per game also. I don't recall how that came out but at least we had a little bit of a season.Granted I haven't followed it too much but did salaries get adjusted due to the lack of ticket revenue and the lower number of games? 3 million tickets and concessions to zero is a pretty big hit.
Adjusted for games, that’s all I think. The last hiccup in the negotiations was the owners wanting to renegotiate the original deal, which was due to the realization that there weren’t going to be fans. My hope is that money will be the catalyst that brings some normalcy back. Meaning the team owners finally just say screw it, and tell MLB we’re opening up the stadiums or we’re not playing.Granted I haven't followed it too much but did salaries get adjusted due to the lack of ticket revenue and the lower number of games? 3 million tickets and concessions to zero is a pretty big hit.
One of the ONeill highlights they show on the Cards website is the one where he dove for a ball that he caught chest high and couldn't turn the DP on the runner off of 1st because he flopped on the ground and by the time he could get up his throw was too late.He played LF and he is fast. He got to a lot more balls than most LFs do. That was a big reason his metrics were so good.
Idk about the Waino and Molina part...but can whole-heartedly agree with the back half of that statement. I'd like someone not as lazy as me to list the trades and signings over the last five seasons or so. Think it'd be eye-popping bad. That includes extensions. Not a lot of guys playing to their contracts, and not a lot of trades that worked out well for the Birds. Not exactly sure how that equates to GM/POBO success.Waino and Molina are going to end up playing for LaRussa and the ChiSox and we will screw up this offseason unfathomably bad.
I think he and Gomber, both, could be in the rotation. Put them with Mikolas and Flaherty, that’s a really solid four. Would assume that means Reyes/Ponce/Gant/CMart/Cabrera fight out that last spot. I like having the lefties. Just when you think about no Waino and no Hudson, the pitching depth really isn’t there. And I have a feeling the FO and owners are going to try to force feed Libatore, just to sell the narrative they didn’t get fleeced in that deal too. All in all, pitching still seems to be a definite positive. That would be a miserable list to see I'm sure. Small positive, I really do like KK in a starting role for us.
