Drew Church--Head basketball coach @ Cape Central
Dane Church--Head coach @ Saxony Lutheran back in 2012 and Drew's brother.
Mike Church--Father of Drew and Dane Church--Mike has a basketball background in college and high school and appears to be helping his sons design " Game Plans ".
It is my understanding Drew Church had the perfect game plan to defeat the undefeated Sikeston Bulldogs last Friday evening. The game plan was designed on Sikeston's strength and possible weakness.
1. Sikeston is a zone team
2. Sikeston is pressing team
3. Sikeston has a very good outside game and a small but decent inside game.
3. Sikeston has been successful in maintaining the lead in the last 4 minutes of the game.
The plan was to:
1. Patience offense against the Bulldogs zone defense.
2. Defeat the pressing defenses
3. Take away the 3 point shooting and give a bit on the inside.
4. Central was successful in having the lead in the 4th quarter and forced the Bulldogs away from their strength of the zone defense.
Drew Church had a masterful game plan and his players performed almost flawless to get the upset. The trick now is to do it again in districts. If Central uses the same plan again--What happens in districts? 1. Will Central pressure the outside shooters and give a little to the inside or will it be the opposite?
I'm sure " Mastermind " Mike Church was taking notes and will give advice for the show down in the district @ Sikeston.
