Can anyone in the EMO challenge the Bobcats?

The Bowling Green Bobcats enter the 2010 season still basking in the glow of their 14-1 season the culminated in a Class 3 Show-Me Bowl appearance.The Bobcats swept through the EMO Conference with a 6-0
mark and are the hunted as the 2010 season begins.

Montgomery County enters the season with a new head coach,
Wright City enters with the best big play threat in the league. Top to bottom the EMO Conference is solid and should provide exciting football each Friday night. Let's take a look at each league school.

Eastern Missouri Pre-Season Conference Notes:


1. BOWLING GREEN--
"We are excited about the upcoming season although we lose a lot of starters on offense we still return some who gained valuable experience as
non-starters", commented head coach Jimmy Tucker.? "The key to success
offensively will be improving week to week." Just two starters return on offense, all-district lineman Matt Myers(6-0 240) and senior Evan Cerven(6-4 210) who also returns on the line.

"Defensively we will return the most starters. Our second level of the defense is where we return everyone. The development of our defensive line will be the key to our defensive returning to the dominance we had last year", added Tucker.

Seven defensive starters return include a trio of members who made the all-state team after their Show-Me Bowl appearance. Senior
linebacker
Devan Cobb
(5-7 170) returns after a 79 tackle, 5.5 sack season. Senior defensive back
Matt Brown(5-9 140)
compiled 49 tackles and 11 interceptions. Senior defensive back
Zach Paese (6-0 175) had 36 tackles and 3 interceptions.


2. WRIGHT CITY--

James Weir's Wildcats finished 7-4, advancing to the MSHSAA playoffs. With eight offensive and six defensive starters returning the Wildcats received several first place votes from league coaches in pre-season selections
and are will be a league force.


Senior running back Trent Davis(5-11 185) is
the best returning player in the league. A season ago Davis rushed for 2,497-yards, averaging 8 yards-per-carry and scored 34 touchdowns. Senior
Deon Bradshaw(6-3 190) returns as the top receiving threat, he
led the team in receptions a season ago piling up 563-yards.

On the line senior Wyatt Mohrmann(6-5 295) is dominant and senior running back Delante Blanks(5-9 185) provides another top threat in the backfield.


3.3.pan>MONMONTGOMERY COUNTY-- Head coach John Klekamp takes over the Wildcat football program in his first opportunity as a head coach succeeding
Ben Blank who had a successful run in Montgomery. "We are

looking at getting back to a winning tradition after a 5-5 season in 2009", commented Klekamp. "We will be looking to work hard this off-season in the weight room with our sites on putting awinning football team
on the field. As we work to develop this winning attitude, we will focus developing responsible and accountable young men."

Top Wildcat returning starters include senior DL/RB
Kyle Brookman(6-2 265) a load for opponents to
bring down and a playmaker on the defensive line. Senior QB Cole Brower(5-11 165) returns to lead the offense along with
Sean Sachs(6-1
190) a top two-way threat at outside linebacker and running back.



4. rong>ORCHARD FARM-- The Eagles finished 5-5, 3-3 in the league a season ago. Averaging 26 points per game
on on offense, allowing 24 points per contest.


Senior running back Dylan Sinclair(5-10 185) returns as a top option on offense. A season ago he finished with 512 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns. Junior Jake Nevins(5-11 195) led the team in tackles with 66 and compiled 2 sacks and will be a leader on defense.



5. CLOPTON/ELSBERRY-- In year three of the program head coach Adam Falloon has high hopes for his football team which returns eight offensive starters and nine on defense.
"For the first time in our teams history we are looking to field a junior/senior dominated team", commented Falloon. "I'm very excited about the potential. If these kids continue to work hard and stick it out this could be a very special season!"

Ryan Bencomo(5-(5-10
175) is the top playmaker for Clopton/Ellsberry. On the line newcomer Alan Holland(6-8 280) is one to watch.? He has great size and with experience he can become a force on the line.


6. VAN-FAR-- Jason Hall has high hopes for his squad coming off a 2-8 season in which many young players

gained great experience. "We have speed and size in the front seven and experience in the back four", commented Hall.


Among those gaining experience, senior Adrian Davis(6-0 160) returns to lead the offense at the quarterback position. On the line sophomore Ryan Nelson(6-5 200) is a special player along with fellow sophomore Todd Udelhoven(6-2 250) who has nice size. Sophomore running back
Devontay Wilkerson(6-1 175) provides a speedy big play threat.

7. WINFIELD--Jamie Stokes returns a 1-9 squad with six returning offensive starters and four on defense.
"We are going to be young this year. However, I am very excited about the amount of heart and
effort they have put forth in the off-season", commented Stokes.

Leading the way for the Warriors on the line senior /span> Denny Javaux(6-1 220) will go both ways.

Justin Nicholson(6-1 195) is a talented linebacker on defense and a wideout on offense. Senior Tim McClintock(5-11 165) is a top threat at running back and solid on defense from his linebacker position.
