That sounds about right from what I heard was Branson admin lead the charge. The joke was they created it and included only smaller schools.Branson supt was the main straw that stirred the drink of the conference. It was his brain child.
Neosho admin wanted to go and the community shut it down. Just the opposite for Willard. Or at least that's how I remember it happening.
Neosho is near class 6 so they should stay in the COC. Willard and Waynesville are the schools that seem like they could leave the COC but the OMC wouldn't accept WaynesvilleThat sounds about right from what I heard was Branson admin lead the charge. Neosho admin was floating the idea so I assume they had an invitation, not sure if they were actually pushing it or not but at least opened it up for discussion. They sent out a community survey. I have friends there and they, unlike my CJ friends weren't interested in the OMC at all. Neosho is a tougher sell because they don't have the "schools our size" argument. I have no idea about Willard. I was told they were "likely" to join that group, but then they didn't.
I would also say that their wasn't really any discussion in CJ about it. It was just kind of announced. There was some opposition after it was announced. The volleyball coach was apparently very vocal and upset (even though the OMC is a very good volleyball league). That sounds about right from what I heard was Branson admin lead the charge. I do believe Marshfield and LogRog were looking to leave the Big 8 also as they could not compete with the small schools, so I think things just worked out pretty good at the time as a few schools were not happy with their conference situations. That sounds about right from what I heard was Branson admin lead the charge. Let's be honest for Log Rog and Marshfield the Southwest conference would be hard for them to win in.The difference in perspectives is funny. I saw a quote from a Rogersville player saying that the OMC is a hard league while the kids at CJ call it the OMG because the football is so bad.
