Bolivar???

Is bolivar changing Conference next year? He will be a tough one to replace, did a great job, they need a coach to come in and create some toughness.

Anyone else think that the writing on the wall regarding conferences (specifically as it relates to the very likely possibility that Bolivar will soon have to find a way to win conference games against someone other than Buffalo, Catholic, Hollister, Rogersville, and Marshfield) played into Roweton's decision?

(Feel free to weigh in, Bolivar fans but for the love of Pete, please spare me the melodrama...)

Prepared to watch the posts come in on the following:

1.).....but Bolivar never played anyone good in their conference
2.) Harv Welch is close to being named the next Head Ball Coach at Bolivar.

These posts never get old.

1.) would be stating the obvious
2.) won't happen now, but it will be J. Rod coming to Bolivar.

Well if Harv declines the offer I'd say an internal candidate or Shad Edwards comes to mind at Stockton and maybe a Willard assistant that Brock throws support to. Maybe even Rich Johnson could creep his way back into the Ozarks. It'll get a lot of interest from quality coaches though that is for sure. Rumor (now confirmed) was that Roweton had been wanting to make a change to administration for a couple years so I doubt any rumored conference changes weighed in on his decision.

Glad to see you still have the venom mitsu. We will assume you are fishing but why would you run down your school and then post photos of their players. He was part of three losses as well, and they were supposed to be good.

This is why I said "spare me" (and you didn't even weigh in on the question...)

I wish I could have seen the 35-0 beating Liberty North put on Bolivar in 2013. Wasn't Bolivar favored and undefeated at the time. I heard this was one lose he wishes he could get back.

I have said for years on here, that you and Stef should get some of the old Ampipe guys together, then form a coaching staff! Imagine what could happen!!! You, Stef, Shadow, and Tank!!!
Do you know what would happen of them guys formed a staff? Bolivar would start losing to the teams they beat up on! The staff would implode during the first season! I can see it now....Coach Fox (Nickerson) calls a trick play or a risky blitz and it back fires. Then after the game, Stef calls him out in front of the coaching staff, then BAM! Stef is kicked off the coaching staff and black listed from all the local schools!

Not a chance. If it had to do with something besides his own desire to be an administrator then it was a clash with some members of the school board.

Roweton's tenure as coach of Bolivar wasn't the only successful period at Bolivar. In the 90s a unified COC saw Ozark, Branson and Bolivar mostly at the top. New alignment would definitely end conference dominance for Bolivar but they would hold their own.

Who will some of the candidates be?

I would love to see Brock come home. His move to Willard was his chance to get back in the area, this would complete the circle. And more Roweton kids at Bolivar is always a plus!

His oldest brother Brad is the Bolivar baseball coach.

Hold their own? Give 5 quality wins that Roweton has had. He beat someone that was even or maybe a little better.

I don't want to get into this kind of measuring contest. Mainly because I agree that most "big games" the Libs came up short. I was also never a fan of the small COC. It began a couple yrs after my time. Lance did have some battles with Helias, and one competetive game with WC in Peavey's soph year. Wins over some really good teams in Pleasant Hill, Union, Harrisonville. Overall playing against really weak teams in conference hurt them when it came time to step up.

When I say hold their own I don't mean dominate but I do think they'd still win 7-8 games regularly with better years mixed in against an improved local schedule.

Agreed; very well said.

I am sure that there is more to it there always is. The streak is going to end eventually and now it wont end under Roweton. It is probably not a bad time to get out. No matter what the reason, its hard to not be impressed with the success he has had.

Bosco- we would do it TOGETHER , be awful hard to coach without my previous College and Pro staff- who would get our donuts and pie for us?
How are we gonna do it? Together!!!

Coach has learned his lesson. Give him some credit, people change...except for Bosco he is still a Donkey. Nickerson gets a job somewhere, I would love to get a call to coach D-Backs...
