Bolivar at Buffalo

This used to be a great rivalry. In the 80's when I played the Polk County Sheriff would escort the bus to the Dallas County line and they would take it over from there. Usually the last team to get the ball won the game. Buses were usually always egged on the way home or balloons with deer urine tossed through the windows.

When was the last time the Bolivar-Buffalo game wasn't a blow out? 20 years ago?

I think good players and coaches get up for every game regardless of the opponent. I think Bolivar and CJ are in very similar situations. CJ moving in to the COC large is a good move and I am looking forward to seeing the possible changes in the Small COC take place. I am just a dad and my youngest just went to Mizzou this year so I don't have a dog in the hunt other than being a lifelong Liberator fan. I would love to see the Monett and Bolivar rivalry come back. That used to be a great first game and always seemed to end on a last minute score by one team or the other.

Lib Dad-
You say CJ and Bolivar are in very similar situations.... Why doesn't Bolivar want to move up to the COC Large like CJ has? Seems like they just enjoy beating up on the small COC teams and then playing their own class schools after week 10. I know two of the small COC are class 4 too. Just wondering why they haven't asked to play in large side of COC?

It's been said on here numerous times. Bolivar is not allowed to play in the COC large because they are not at the 1,000 student threshold. Now I have no idea if it's true or not. But its been said at least 500 times. Some say that's a false statement some say it's true. Who knows.

Maybe it has more to do with the other sports in Bolivar. Football dominates in the small COC, but do any of their other sports? Maybe it is the other sports that are pushing for them to stay knowing they can't compete in the large side in: basketball, baseball, track etc...

Is the COC large and small divisions in other sports or just football?

As for 1,000 limit, CJ has always been less than that but they are joining large division. They might hit 1,000 by next year though when they officially start COC play.

At least for this year's football competition, the Big 8 appears to be much better than the small COC, not that anyone asked. Just throwing that out there because if CJ were pushed into the small COC, they'd rather stay in the Big 8 as far as football goes.

The divisions are for all sports. In other sports there is more crossover with scheduling and many schools will play schools from the other divisions but they schedule that on their own, it is not mandated. Many of the Large schools will schedule Bolivar, Marshfield, and Rogersville (sometimes Reeds Spring and Catholic) in softball, baseball, basketball, etc but tend to stay away from playing Hollister and Buffalo especially.

I remember those old rivalry days between Buffalo and Bolivar. That is back when men were men.
