Assume they are in their prime with their best supporting cast. Today's rules, so you'll need to adjust bigly on the older guys. Write-ins always welcome. Doc Guys are not eligible, but please feel free to run wild ITT.

Brady (with Belichick) = GOAT, whether you like ‘em or not...

There have been better passers, better althletes and better IQs but I always maintained, thoughout all the Johnny come lately’s that, Joe Montana was the best QB ever. That is until I very reluctantly put Tom at the top. But could I really, really trust Tom to win my biggest game ever. Had to vote Joe M. Never lost a SB. Never threw a pick in a SB. 3 time SB MVP and Jerry Rice has the 4th but who threw Jerry all of those passes? Stage was never too big. Guy had Ice water running through his veins.

Montana is my no 3. He played well but we still lost to Buffalo. Unforgiven.. Brady without question with Lamar Jackson as his running back. I know the kid is actually throwing much better but it’s all because of those wheels..

What happened when Joe left? Steve Young led the league in passing, won a super bowl and Jerry Rice’s numbers blew up. Montana was in the right place at the right time. Teams didn’t know how to defend the west coast offense yet. Great player, but.....

Your and Bosko’s same jokes over and over were funny the first time. No wait. Actually they weren’t even funny then.
SAME JOKES!!?? Listen here buddy, I dont know who you are but if I did, we would be having a nice little "chat" right about now! Tell ya what, come on down to Ampipe. First round is on me! First round of fighting!!

They are pretty close to the same. I think most QBs are in the right place at the right time who have HOF careers. Takes a lot of stars to align.

Montana had 28 career GWD, Young had 15.

Montana 139 games started in SFO, 35124yrds 244tds 123ints
Young 124 games started in SFO, 29907yrds 221tds 86ints

My biggest thing with todays QBs are the lack of hits these guys take in comparison of what the older generation did. Some of these guys were putting up great numbers with DBs all over the WRs and getting the crap knocked out of them. I've officially turned into you one of you old farts....

Young didn’t get his chance until age 30. So a lot of his games between 25 and 29 were mop up duty.

He led the league is completion percentage 5 times. Same as Joe. He led the league in TD passes 4 times. Two damn good QBs.
The same “system” led the league in completion percentage 10 times. When young retired he was the highest rated passer in league history.
Young was also a great athlete.

Young or Montana. You take Brady with his best offenses and he has lost in those Super Bowls. Brees is another great option as well.

To have Lamar Jackson on this list right now is just a little bit premature. Mahomes would be a better option for the young guns.

Joe I think you forget that I have two Super Bowl Rings and an MVP and you followed in my footsteps at San Francisco.

Brady is outside the top 10 in accumulated Super Bowl passer rating. For my money, it's Kurt Warner. He has 3 of the top 6 most prolific passing games in SB history. Yes, he only has 1 ring, but it's not because he sucked in the other two.

The thread is Big Game QB. I’m thinking super bowl. However if Joe Vs Steve is considered a big game, then Joe is undefeated. 1-0.

It's good to see someone other than Brady leading the poll. I cringe everytime I see GOAT beside his name. He's lost almost as much as won when it's all on the line. He's obviously great, just not what I consider GOAT. What's really funny is every year he drags this on he's taking away from his legacy, not adding to it.

Is he? If they win ANOTHER Super Bowl, how is that a detraction from his lagacy?

Did he really hurt his legacy last year?

In many regards he is the most accomplished QB ever. However, he has won a few of his rings due to strong NE defenses and very easily good be 4-5 in the Super Bowl. You take Lynch running the ball for Seattle and Atlanta running the ball on 3 and long to set up a field goal when up 28-10 and not taking a sack to move out of FG range, it could be different.

I can't stand them as much as the next guy. But c'mon. Dude has played in more big games than any other nfl player. Whether it's BB or him or both, we'll never know, because they're both at the end of their careers. So even if one goes or the other, theres always that built in age excuse.

And if Lynch gets tackled on the 1? Almost every close game has a crucial play or two that can be directly linked to the outcome of that game.

Not discounting your statement at all. Vinateri could have missed some FGs, who knows? Fun to discuss though.

It is crazy the season Lamar Jackson is having. Back to back years as second year QB is going to win MVP...
For one game.. Roger the Dodger was the man

Exactly which QBs have won Superbowls that didn’t have great defenses? Defense wins.

As Kenny said every game has that one play. Like the crazy helmet catch by the Giants Tyree to beat the Patriots or Brady would’ve had another..That’s Football...

I don't remember the Rams having a good defense.

1999 Rams defense was underrated.

Kevin Carter had 17.5 sacks
D'Marco Farr
Ray Agnew
Grant Wistrom
Mike Jones
London Fletcher
Todd Collins
Todd Lyght
Keith Lyle
Billy Jenkins

That was a solid defense that got overshadowed (understandably so) by the offense.

some said “great defense”. I don’t think you can say they had a “great” defense. So the answer is Kurt Warner.

I think you could categorize them as a "great" defense. All time great? 85 Bears, 01 Ravens, 02 Buccaneers? Not necessarily, but there are a lot of different variables at play which could make them appear "good" instead of "great".

1. The Rams offense scored extremely fast. The defense was on the field a lot which is never great, but the defense still only gave up a hair over 15 points per game and only allowed more than 20 points 4 times that season (one in the season finale against the Eagles when starters were resting).

2. The Rams actually had an offense.
With respect to Refrigerator Perry, the 85 Bears, 01 Ravens, and the 03 Buccaneers, their defensive accomplishments stood out all the more because...well the Rams had more offensive talent in 1999 than these three had combined. When the defense HAS to be exceptional in order to win, it makes it all the more impressive. Having said that, the Rams weren't a team that HAD to outscore people. Holding a lot of teams under 14 helps a ton.
