Once a week I try to ask a football based question to help balance out all the nonsense I post, this weeks is, Who are some of the best programs in the state (sorry Ampipe) without a title but are consistent winners
You clearly have NOT seen my doc. Before every game, the Ampipe players touch the championship game ball. NICE TRY CLOWN!!! Now I will respectfully stop my doc talk, as to not derail your one thread that isnt pure nonsense!Once a week I try to ask a football based question to help balance out all the nonsense I post, this weeks is, Who are some of the best programs in the state (sorry Ampipe) without a title but are consistent winners
I really appreciate you and @GermanDeadPeriodRecruiter posts as someone from the KC metro I love hearing about teams outside of my area and there historyUp until about 15 years ago, Stockton had around 30 straight winning seasons, a dozen or more district titles and a handful of state semifinal appearances. Also look at Thayer and Pierce City, both are continuously the best in their conferences and usually play each other in districts or the first round of state. They have had to go through Hayti or Valle usually at some point as well.
You'd have to have luck from hell to be higher on this list than Jackson. Near double digit semifinal berths, three state final berths and zero state championships. Also, no state championship was lost by more than six points. The Jackson Indians have to be up there.I’ll go next, Jackson.
Kansas City John Joseph Hogan Preparatory Charter
Tell me more about EurekaEureka has to be high on this list.
Carthage used to always make this list, glad they are no longer in this elite club!
Mountain View has been pretty good the last 10 years. Would probably have a 2 or 3 trophies if not for Lamar's run.
I don’t agree. Thayer and MTN View Liberty are both good examples of being the second best team in the state meeting the number one team early in the playoffs.Mostly teams that have shiny regular season records year in and year out because they play a weak schedule.
I'm pretty sure no one in the SCA has ever won a state title, but the conference has had a lot of very good teams. Salem has been State Runner up several times, Ava was Runner Up last year, Thayer has been runner up a couple of times. Houston and Mnt Grove have been to the Semis several times. Then of course Mt View Liberty running into Lamar all those years. Good conference that for whatever reason just hasn't broken through yet.I don’t agree. Thayer and MTN View Liberty are both good examples of being the second best team in the state meeting the number one team early in the playoffs.
It's a shame how good MV has really been probably gets lost outside of southern mo. Remove Lamar and they probably have 2-3 State Championships and 2-3 Runner-up's in the last ten years.True:
Thayer always ran into Valle
Tipton: always ran into Valle or Thayer
Mtn View always ran into Lamar
All played very good competition during the regular season.
Lol yeah the old "got beat by the best team so that means we're really good" argument. It usually holds up.I don’t agree. Thayer and MTN View Liberty are both good examples of being the second best team in the state meeting the number one team early in the playoffs.
Anytime you have one team winning all or most of the championships during a long stretch of time, like Lamar or Webb City there will be those teams that popped up during the same time period and had really good runs but didn't get much attention because of 'that one team' that was abnormally good for an abnormally long time. It's a shame how good MV has really been probably gets lost outside of southern mo. Remove Lamar and they probably have 2-3 State Championships and 2-3 Runner-up's in the last ten years.
The two teams I mentioned regularly have a good strength of schedule and the years they was contending they only lost one or two games a season so yes they was beaten by the best and they were really good.Lol yeah the old "got beat by the best team so that means we're really good" argument. It usually holds up.
Cabool has only title in SCA, 1968 vs SenecaI'm pretty sure no one in the SCA has ever won a state title, but the conference has had a lot of very good teams. From 1976 to 1985 Stockton had 3 semifinals, and lost to the state champs in 2 of those three. Also lost to state champs in quarterfinals in 78, 81, 84 by 2 td, 1 td, 3 pts. Coach Hancock had 2 semis and qtrs in 9 yrs at Stockton. Erickson had semi in 76 and qtr in 75. Lost to state champ in 76.Up until about 15 years ago, Stockton had around 30 straight winning seasons, a dozen or more district titles and a handful of state semifinal appearances. Bolivar. Made quite a few deep runs in 3A in the 90s, including an appearance in championship and semis. Webb was always in the way since they moved to 4A.
