Ok, I've been hearing bout this goalkeeper from Kennett who might be a really good goalkeeper. He averages 19 saves a game and rumor has it that he's going to Missouri Baptist University on scholarship. I was just wondering who you people thought was some of the good goalkeepers in the state?

I don't know who the best goalie is but I wouldn't judge it based on number of saves. It is a very deceiving stat because it might depend more on the strength of the D (the weaker the D, the more shot oppurtunites to save).

good call, what kind of team does Kennet have? Jackson got 22 shots on goal against them?

Kennett has a pretty well rounded team! They have some really good players and the team plays together really well! A lot of the seniors on this years team could go off and play college soccer.

I believe that it is usually safe to say that your better keepers play for better teams. They may not make 20+ saves a game, but that is because the players in front of them are better than average. This doesn't mean that smaller school keepers are worse at making saves, but they are typically lacking in other qualities that make a keeper a dominant player, particularly communication and distribution (two of the most important aspects for a keeper to have when going on to the collegiate level). Shot stopping can be taught to anyone, footwork and diving as well (both collapse and extenstion), but communication and distribution are two qualities learned through experience with quality players, coaches, and programs.

In my opinion, if Ryan Johnson, the goalkeeper for Joplin, had not torn his ACL in the offseason, he would have been the best keeper in the state this year. He was already on the verge of setting the state shutout record and he had not yet begun his senior year yet. He was averaging 10-15 shutouts in his first three seasons and this year should have been no exception. The loss of Ryan really hurt our chances this year, but we still were able to eek out a 16-7-1 season, although it should have been more along the lines of 22-3-0...

Ryan was an extremely good goalie and I have never seen a better high school goalie, but I haven't seen enough to say he is the best.

Who in the hell is Brent Oliver? I've heard of everyone everyone else named, but not this Brent Oliver...

I don't know anything about goalies outside of Kansas City but the two best I've seen here are Andrew Biggs (Park Hill South) and Will Preston (Pembroke Hill).

i'm not certain on names, i never am, but Glendale has a really good keep, but they have a good defence to back him up, but also i would say that Matt Gow from Lebanon is a good goalie, not just because he is our keeper, but because he has kept us in several games when our defence has broke down...i want to say that he hasnt allowed a pk in normal time, and if our team could finish, he would be up on the list of you all talking, he is only a junior, so watch for him next year too

The Lebanon goalie was pretty salty. Saved some excellent shots that we/I took on him. How tall is he?

he is like 6'3, plays basketball too, but our only problem is that our defense will give up some easy covers, but we have arranged our d to where we have our two best seniors back there and two good juniors on top to finish, we look to take out West Plains

Glendale's Cannon is a very good keeper, solid in his technical abilities and positioning but he also has an amazing dropkick (probably averages 75 yards), plus he is only a junior I believe. Moberly also has a very good keeper, Joel Davidson. He has stimied some really good teams: 1 goal to Helias, 2 to JC, 3 to Kickapoo, and 3 to Glendale - 4 of their 5 losses. He broke the shutout record of 12, he has 15 and counting, and has a goals-against average far less than 1.00.

I think that john sieple for the maryville spoofhounds is the best goal keeper in the state already breaking the school record for saves in a game of 24
