Remember when the republicans were the stupid party?
The Majority of Results!

Forget the coins and go to a primary.
Just primaries?
Then there would truly be the candidates like Trump, that already have fame be in the game early.
We might lose never heard of the Mayor of a small town Pete B. until the media starting pushing him for his identity.

I’m assuming you’ve never listened to him speak? Very articulate, has some good ideas and not nearly as far left as some other candidates. I prefer to study candidates and listen as opposed to seeing if a D or an R is by their name and automatically say he/she is a liberal scumbag or a repugnant conservative.

I've studied him. He's a walking cliche. Total identity politics guy. Terrible.
He is quicker on his feet. Not a fan. He's hiding his early in primary positions that are far left. I'm not buying he's a moderate. I don't think because he went to school at blank university means he is exceptional. I don't agree with same sex marriage and believe it's immoral for the same reasons that some people don't like Trumps porn star scandal. I don't like his quoting of scriptures. He's awful. I like Amy K much more than Pete.

hmm let me get this straight, this is the party that wants to do away with the electoral college.

You are entitled to your opinions, as am I. That’s why I enjoy coming to this forum.

I do subscribe to the belief that someone is born gay. Therefore, Mayor Pete did not “choose” to mess with a porn actress.

There's always a choice my friend. My dear cousin who I love, a tomboy from birth had a choice. I respectfully disagree. But yes, Trump has messed around on all his wives. His redemption or not, is not up to me. I have my own sin. That's why I accept all people. In my family, at work, in my church. But I don't have to vote for them. I don't have agree with them and celebrate their lifestyle. Just like I wouldn't celebrate Trumps infidelity. I can see my own sin, see my potential to do wrong, and know the potential of wrong by mankind in general. I particularly dislike Petes politics and generally all the politics today, but more from the intersectional post modern side. I dont see Christians and right wingers ramming theocracy down our throats. I see a different kind, just as deadly as Anti Semitism rising. Dont like it. Nope. It's always funny to get a religious lecture from the side that undermines the Bill of Rights when it fits their narrative. Not that you're doing this. You are just a man like me commenting.

The press doesn't get to say what I should think is morally right. Just because they ignore it and claim it's not an issue doesn't mean it isn't. Would I vote for a gay guy? Yes. But not Pete B. Just like abortion we as individuals get to decide which side is right and if some people believe the side of anti-abortion is more compelling than abortion argument that's our choice.

Yes, and I would like my vote to count and not have a couple thousand people decide who the president is. Where else does the person with less votes win except for the most powerful job in the world?

For such a righteous post you sure condemn Dems as a total group never taking into consideration that they have different beliefs from each other.

Not against it but he said he does not trust a straight vote or basically John Q public to pick the right person so the way the Dems do is correct. So let the power brokers in the Dem party pick the Candidate they want, they believe John Q public is not good enough or smart enough to vote for the right guy. So I am just trying to figure this all out? Why is one good enough but the other is not?

Subjective perceptions have replaced objective observation. You see what you believe, I see what I feel. It's harder to view things with logic. Since niether of us can observe each other objectively we assume the worst because it's our default position as humans.

Plus, the history of the electoral college supposedly has slavery issues in its roots. Looking into that.
So our conflicts including the Electoral College are a proxy for deeper racial wounds? That's some TaNehisi Coates stuff or 1619 project? You know the photo negative of that stuff can be found on the Alt-Right. The Alt-right (Richard Spencer) evidently accepts Coates's renditions of this type of passionate identity but in reverse. Says it will make it easier to turn people so he can take over. Spencer said in the NYT about Coates, "this is why I am encouraged because those leftist will be easy to flip". Something to think about don't you agree?

If I understood what you’re saying I may agree. Lol.
What I’m looking into is the theory that the Electoral College idea was set up to help keep slavery. That the concept was, as is now, to keep more populated states from having too much say. Back then, supposedly, the driving force was slavery. I’ve heard this said before. I’d find it interesting if it is true or even partially that way.

I think the founders were wiser than us, smarter than us, more educated than us, and sacrificed more than us. I think we've been living off fumes of the greatest foundation ever invented and it took us 3,000 years to develop it.

They also worked from the philosophy of “we must hang together or we will hang separately.” We don’t feel that way anymore unless two airplanes crash into NY skyscrapers. And current administration seems to be fine with that.

I have no idea what that was about. I'm for NO goofy caucuses that do NOT give most voters a real chance to vote. I want them to be able to vote in a booth in private and not have to gather like the ladies club to pick their choice for the nominee. I also want whomever gets the most votes in the whole country to win the race for the most powerful job in the world. Why is that too much to ask?

Some factions want to throw away a great system. They've lost faith. Honestly, I don't hear a single Dem. candidate that can speak plain english.
As for the two parties working together? Forget about it. They just want to get each other, and they fully know we are watching the show. When one side has the upper hand, one side is happy. We should be happy no matter who is winning.
Long story short, all of us seem to have forgotten what is important. Some people look for the Government to make them happy. The Parties know this. Trump says, I will give you what I promised. He's just as bad. I wish it would stop, but it's getting worse.

No doubt it’s getting worse. In my opinion, Newt upped the ante and looks like a choirboy compared to DJT.
