Several years ago, I asked about it. "It would be impossible to schedule a couple hundred kids all in the same hour". The next day, take class outside first hour and you see a hundred marching band members and 25 flaggers out there rehearsing their routines. As Arsenio used to say things that make you go hmm.

"Co-curricular" my a$$. That's the part that has always baffled me. Band and ROTC sure seem to play by different rules.

In SWMO, I know Nixa has an athletics hour. Fairly certain most, if not all, of the west coast COC schools have it too. I think REPMO either has it or is adding it. With all of the online offerings and bus driver shortages that require early start times for secondary schools, it's time to stop pretending the BS behind not having an athletic hour is to protect instructional time. Too many nerds leading districts that don't get it.

Did you notice too that with open enrollment the only MSHSAA year sit outs will be athletics... kids can transfer and do band, speech and debate etc. COMPETITIONS. We have known for years that the rules are never the same.

I guess I remember that I lived 2 years in the mountains of Idaho from 91 to 93. Could only get one radio station and a couple of TV channels. So I missed all that stuff during those years.

all schools should have this.
very sad how behind some places are

Until you talk to nerds that run most school districts.

The west COC schools do not have athletic hours. It has been a topic of debate and there is a chance some of them will eventually add it, but that is not the case at the moment.

NIXA and Mt. Vernon are the only ones I know have it. Repmo does not currently have it.

You can say it’s easy all you want, but when coaches aren’t PE teachers it takes them out of another class you need them to teach.

Gotta be honest I am not sure either is alive today will look it up. That was, holy smokes, in 1992.................
Robert Cole passed way back in 1995. David Clivilles was a producer long after that. Wandering (just like dirt track racing back in December) away from HSFB why we are all here but, heck, its the offseason. Could not agree more about needing quality to return to music.
