So that everybody else can try to win the JV State Title.bout time to boot them to their own 'pay to win' bracket.
West Plains did pretty well in the “Varsity” state title yesterday I’d say. Did it with homegrown talent too.So that everybody else can try to win the JV State Title.
And thayer was a great class three along with mid buchananHigginsville vs charleston final was quite remarkable in class three. Both dispatched good privates along the way too.
Yeah I'm sure Charleston would have no interest in playing in an Excuse Makers state tournament. Neither would Vashon.Higginsville vs charleston final was quite remarkable in class three. Both dispatched good privates along the way too.
Yea, all those Vashon kids are home grown, give me a breakYeah I'm sure Charleston would have no interest in playing in an Excuse Makers state tournament. Neither would Vashon.
At some point, the best team has to win. Not everybody can be the best team. That's what the tournament is for. It doesn't mean that you can't still be proud of your team!Yea, all those Vashon kids are home grown, give me a break
This is why people dislike private schools. So that everybody else can try to win the JV State Title.
Yessss. Great job private schoolsbout time to boot them to their own 'pay to win' bracket.
It fixed the class 1 problem child.Yessss. Great job private schools
They don't all do it.As long as public schools recruit too (KICKAPOO!!!!!!), I'm not going to listen to people complain about the pvt vs. public stuff. THEY ALL DO IT!!!!! GET BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kickapoo does to a certain extent but they only have private school level teams every decade or so.As long as public schools recruit too (KICKAPOO!!!!!!), I'm not going to listen to people complain about the pvt vs. public stuff. THEY ALL DO IT!!!!! GET BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seems like we are talking about a minimal amount of private schools that actively "recruit". Those same private schools seem to win ALOT year in year out. Same can be said about public schools. If you don't think some public schools recruit across the state, you clearly are not seeing outside your own little world. They don't all do it.
That's a weak argument from people that don't see outside their own little world.

Some cities have open enrollment which encourages the recruiting process. I think the bigger picture is summer teams where kids play and win and then want to play together in high school after that. Other times it is bad programs. My son had 4 high school coaches in 4 years.Seems like we are talking about a minimal amount of private schools that actively "recruit". It isn't complicated at all. Name the private schools that actively recruit? You assume ALL private schools are paying for athletes to attend their school. Or do kids and parents want their kid to go to certain school based on the success of the programs? You ever heard of Deseg kids who can pick a public school to attend in STL? You don't think there are programs of public schools who are selling their programs on why they should attend certain school. I get the MSHSAA rules...I am well aware. But you think that is stopping public schools from recruiting whether its legal or not? Some? Report them.
It's illegal for public schools.
It's not for private schools.
This isn't complicated.
Vashon got busted for doing what private schools do openly.
I agree with you on travel/AAU teams. Many public school coaches who are actively involved in the summer process at the youth levels seem to have a better chance of getting a kid who otherwise might have gone to a private school. Is that recruiting or is that being smart? Depends on what side you are on i guessSome cities have open enrollment which encourages the recruiting process. furthermore MSHSAA does not allow Private schools to recruit. There are instances where a kid transfers from public to private school for athletic reasons and has to sit a year of varsity athletics. It is all about how sneaky private schools are and families can prove it is a family move...educational reasons, work related...etc...It isn't complicated at all. There are STL private schools that have living quarters for players/students.Vashon got busted for paying for an apartment and a housekeeper for two of their players, not so much recruiting.
Everything that I’ve been reading is saying that from around 98-2008 that Vashon had anywhere for 2-10 players per year that shouldn’t have been eligible to play due to city and state residency requirements after an investigation was done by STL public schools and MSHSAA.Vashon got busted for paying for an apartment and a housekeeper for two of their players, not so much recruiting.
So they did what private schools do.Everything that I’ve been reading is saying that from around 98-2008 that Vashon had anywhere for 2-10 players per year that shouldn’t have been eligible to play due to city and state residency requirements after an investigation was done by STL public schools and MSHSAA.
Saying that a lot of players that were going to school there lived out of the district and some didn’t even live in STL and though Vashon made some of them sit out a year, was saying that there was just as many that they didn’t make sit out a year and those are just the ones that actually moved into the district.
that’s not including all of the players that attended Vashon illegally lol
I am sure if you just ask, he will let you come in and watch practice and see first hand what they do. You can not just show up and play as hard as they do an dnot work everyday in practice.Just curious. Can you share more details of what he does to develop these players himself?
Depends on the coach. I know when I was coaching we took time everyday for individual work and broke them down even after that to post/guard skill work. Missouri really needs to be like Arkansas and put in a 2 week dead period for all schools and then HS coaches can have their kids whenever. HS coaches are handcuffed in the off season and summers. MSHSAA sees it as keeping athletes from being sport specific, some see it as keeping kids in a safe environment and out of trouble. IMO.Not nearly as much individual development happens in practices as out of season. You spoke to his skills in that area, so I thought you might have first hand info. Thanks.
