Post dispatch all metro team, MO side teams only covers from Warrenton to Jefferson R7. Double check my numbers but I figure that includes about 53 schools. The MO side 1st team all metro has 62.5% of players from private schools. You could say, well that is just above 50-50. The thing that sticks out to me is you have 11.6% of the schools who have 62.5 % of the first team players. The MO private schools who make up the first teamers is SLUH, DeSmet, St Mary's, LN, CBC, MICDS, and CR. That 11% gets even smaller when you factor in other privates like Westminster, LS, Lutheran SC, St. Pius, etc. My guess is if you factored in all the privates, then the overall percentage would come down to 5 or 6%.

I have said it 10 times and I will say it 10 more, but I (and probably many like me) don't care what they do don't fault people for sending their kids their when given a reduced or free ride. I don't see how when the numbers are as bold as they have gotten, and the fact of they have a different set of rules, that it isn't common sense to seperate them come playoff time.

(for those who disagree, I know, I know, just work harder, here's a towel to dry your tears, snowflake, cry some more, etc). Just seems so bold to figure out IMO that it is a no brainer.

STL suburban schools - 31
St Charles - 1
Howell - 3
Zumwalt - 4
Wentzville - 4
Warrenton - 1
Troy - 1
Jefferson County - 8

Will still a solid point, Your math is a little off. 11% is the state wide percentage of private schools. There are approximately 90 schools in the area you stated with 21(ish) of them being private schools. So 23% is the correct percentage.

Regardless still a solid point.

public school parent/coach wet dream, kick out all the private schools then stick with a watered down 6 classes.

I think all student athletes should have to take the ACT and get 16 or more to be able to compete. This would solve most of the issues

The decline of the St. Louis public and the northern St. Louis county schools are the reason for the rise of the St. Louis private schools

Well Ole Bob Shannon played a part in the emergence of Stl private schools. No one was very consistent other MICDS and John Burroughs. And they have the luxury of being in west county and having wealthy kids who have been playing on elite and travel teams since they were 8 years old.

When did that happen? I remember John Burroughs was there a bunch in the mid 80s and on.

I was shocked to learn De Smet has only won 3 titles and MICDS has two.
CBC never even played in a title game until 2006.

MICDS used to be just County Day (all boys schools) before they combined with Mary Institute (all girls) The schools have 15 total state champion appearances and 7 state titles.

CBC was not ever really that good at football until they hired Bob Shannon and moved from south county to west county. SLUH was the Metro’s lone state title from back in the 70s.

The Hazelwood schools had 8 state champions and 20 state championship appearances from 1968 to 2010.
