You have a 10-point lead in the 2Q. You are on the opponent's 42. There is 2:30 left. Why are you passing three plays in a row? Run the ball two plays...make Cincy burn timeouts and kill to the 2-minute warning.
Reid's time management skills at their ugly worst. They burned 10, maybe 15 seconds before punting. Result: 3 more points for Cincy, and almost 7 without the dropped pass.

I totally agree... his playcalling was downright strange on that series.

I thought that was a strange choice as well.

Another thing that was mentioned more than once during the game was the chiefs very low percentage at converting 3rd and 1 situations. All through the season I've been cussing at the drives that came to an end by a dropped pass when all they needed was a yard or less on the ground. My football knowledge is very limited so maybe it's smart, maybe it's an attempt to get a receiver open for big yards when the defense assumes they will run. Who knows. It just seems like a lot of drives died by an incomplete pass on 3rd and short.

Either way they are going to the superbowl so in spite of my lack of understanding with some of the nuts and bolts I'm glad Reid is coaching and not me!

Agree...he should be fired immediately...guy has forgotten how to coach.;)

Talked to several coaches after the game Sunday and yesterday. Our conversations always started with questioning that strategy. Most agreed with your philosophy and you can put me in that camp also. However, one did offer this explanation. "You haven't been able to run the ball and you have Patrick Mahomes. Isn't it better to give him three chances, instead of one or two, to get 10 yards? Andy was going for another score, even a field goal, and close out the half knowing that with a field goal he only needs to put another field goal on the board in the second half to force them to score three times in the half to beat him."

I was wondering why on almost every 1st down they were running the ball between the tackles for no gain or loss of gain. at one point Pachenko (sp) was at 7 rushes for 17 yards. Running the ball was not effective, so throwing the ball to short outs seemed logical.

Getting Pacheco on the edge with screens or sweeps is successful as hell and was all year. Why they kept running him into a brick wall made no sense.

Pacheco was dinged up in the 1st half and became a non factor. The Chiefs injury situation was /is not good. They finished the game with only three healthy wide receivers...

Probably because at that point in the game they were barely able to run the ball to the line of scrimmage.

Regardless. Cincy got the ball back with 2:15 That is three timeouts and the two minute warnning. Inexcusable and it is the M.O. of Andy. If you polled Eagles fans about his tenure, the #1 problem. Time management. He did the same thing in the 2Q of the Tampa-Chiefs Super Bowl. Result: Tampa got 7 more points. Almost the case again on Sunday. You run the ball, and hope for success, if it gets 1...then so what, now you are down to the two-minute warning. Run again, and they have another timeout burned. DUMB. Not to mention that you now have the D on the field again for a long 2 minutes with stops...totally needlessly. Keep the D on the sideline.

That's why you're a jv coach and he isn't.
