I am pretty sure this falls under sportsmanship. This is nothing new. We have long encouraged our students to support their team not tear down the opposing team.

crazy. as long as the group is not vulgar or does not go on personal attacks ( "airball" and "you cant do that" are not attacks) let them have fun. Some seem to want the kids to just sit on their hands and clap occasionally.

Yeah, our student section will now comply and instead of "Air Ball" and "You Can't Do That." they will switch to "Keep trying! You're a winner in our book!" and "Hey, Don't Worry, Everyone makes mistakes!" We've also petitioned to change the rules. Instead of a jump ball to start the game, we're going to have a hugging contest and award the initial possession to the one who sheds a tear first. We're also going to keep score with bubble gum and the winning team will just give the losing team their bubble gum. It'll be super Keen !!

I cannot remember when the last time the student section could really have fun and cheer, you would have to go back to the 90's. You go to a basketball game now and there is hardly a student section and almost everything is banned. But yet our players have been pranked and given water tainted with pee and our admin didn't even blink an eye for that, but if our student section to hold up signs or a news paper when the other team is announced in our GYM they are escorted out.
