All Conference voting is a joke.

Archie goes 2-8 with their only two wins over 2 teams with a combined record of 1-19 and gets 7 All-Conference Defensive Players. Drexel beats them twice and finishes 2nd in the WEMO and only gets 5 Kids on All Conference Defense. Guess we just must have better coaching.

Any links to the all conference teams ?

is this new, all conf, all district often are a joke, but that is what we got, I don't see this changing

A few years back we had a kid that was 2nd team all-conference that ended up being named to the all-state team. He should have been 1st team all-conference. IMO if you don't make 1st team all-conference you shouldn't be considered for the higher honor.

It is a joke. It's a political exercise. Unless your head coach has influence with the other coaches in your conference, you end up with scenarios like this. Consider the situation where a team may have legitimate candidates for the same all conference honor. You could have 2 players that deserve it over all others in the conference, have all the coaches agree on it but only one can be named. In reality, it's just a patch for their letter jacket. It's nice, and all but carries little, if any weight with college recruiters or is even really considered for playing at the next level.

Disagree. If a conference has multiple classes represented this can happen. I assume it happens to Lamar once a year.

Two great players at the same position in different classes can cause someone to be 2nd team but it doesn't mean they aren't the best at their position in their respective class.

Well...... That being said, what if that player made the Class 2 first team all-state team, nut was behind an all-state class 3 player in the conference voting? Is it fair to hold that against a player because he was 2nd team all conference? You want individual awards, play golf, wrestle or run individual events in track.

All Conference is math and politics. If you get more votes. You win. If you don't you get second team or HM
Some coaches snicker at weird coaches that nominate many players on a bad football team. Big picture, the coaches go ahead and use the math to screw over their rivals and push their own agenda. All is fair in love and war beeotch. Such is life.

It has ZERO impact on college recruiters or playing at the next level. It's mainly for parents.
Just like Conference Champions don't matter. Quick, who won __________ Conference in 2005? Right. Nobody knows. And nobody cares. Because it doesn't make a shit.

Drexel in conference play: 147 points given up
Archie in conference play: 92 points given up

Who really has the better defense and coaching?

well if Archie lost all of their games 0-7 they could have seven all conference defenders and their offence just sucked mud

I guess I can give you better
defense by the points allowed. But better coaching too? Are they the better team too?

2-8 vs 7-3 I am not great with math but???

Friday Archie lost to Drexel 36-17
Archie was up 14 nothing in 1st 6min
but then gave up 352 yards rushing

Someone made adjustments

In the first meeting Archie took the lead in the 4th only to lose by 1

I am sorry I try to stay out of the pissing matches on here but C'mom

Better coaching was referring to defense only since that's what he was mad about.

I would rather have the prize at the end. That is just me

kids always get snubbed and kids make all conference who might surprise you. You must be new at this?

The original OP didn't specify which level of All-Conference these players were on. In my experience, the first team and second team (if your conference has one) is legit and the coaches are really going to try to pick the best player--though this could be affected by whether the conference season (to the exclusion of non-cons) is the only consideration.

However, if it is Honorable Mention, a lot of times those players are simply nominated by their coach as a reward for an older player who doesn't have the game to be 1st or 2nd team but has had some positive impact on the program. The HM group is oftentimes not even voted on, but assigned based on these nominations.

I bet those players remember they won a conference championship. That matters.

Its the WEMO conference, something new this year, they did away the the HM group and voted on a 3rd team instead

Where are people seeing these all Conf teams ? I can't find them nowhere
Most of the Championship teams, ( BTW the hosts of those meetings are Champion Coaching Staffs that for one year carry the most weight in how the selection process is handled) are waiting for the results of tonights match-ups to be played out on the field, in lieu of distracting the entire team or individual players that might get their feelings hurt if the results were released before an important game tonight. We live in the age of the ME generation.
