Seeing North Shelby making it's debut in top's NWMO pick-em got me thinking about what others see as their shot this year? Apparently they have a stud two way player, and are solid in other key positions. Is there a long learing curve to switch from 11 to 8 man 'contending' program (say at least a strong semi appearance)? I'll hang up and listen.

Mound City is my favorite to repeat. Per district:

1) One of the WEMO (new or recent year) additions will win this one. Which one (sorry Rich Hill) is anyone's guess.

2) North Shelby, per your mention, faces Norborne this week. One of those two will face and lose to Orrick in the final.

3) Pattonsburg is a major team to watch at this level. I look for them to dethrone Worth County and win this one.

4) Defending champ Mound City should win it over North Andrew. Wild how fast this class has changed (actually kinda retroed back to when they dominated it).

From there my final four:

Orrick over WEMO.
Mound City over Pattonsburg in a thriller.

Final:

Mound City by a whole bunch over Orrick.

Let's see how these turn out.............

Mound City and Pattonsburg are easily the 2 best teams in the class. That’s tier 1. Tier 2 you have East Atchison, Worth County and SW Livingston are tier 2. Then it goes down from there. Down south I have very little info on anyone. I’d say Orrick and Osceola are the 2 best down that way. No matter, the winner of PB and MC will win the state title

Cool we appear to see mostly the same 8-man...............as for the WEMO teams you are probably right just because Osceola has been doing it for a few years. Pattonsburg co-oping with TWO other schools definitely does not hurt their cause.

Wonder if anyone was as shocked as me how easily Albany handled Stanberry last week?

They can coop with 2 other schools all 3 together are less than the number needed to play 8 man. I wouldn't count out woco and stanberry.

Stanberry has been less than impressive. Got rolled by Albany last Friday and haven’t looked good so far. WOCO looked good week 1 then were upset by Bedford (IA). My top 5 are Mound City, Pattonsburg, East Atchison (Tarkio), WOCO and SW Livingston. Stanberry is off the radar currently. But that could change really quick with a high profile win. My surprise so far this year in 8-man is the 2-0 start for Dekalb.

On the other side seems like Rock Port is on the decline................

Pattonsburg and Mound City won't meet until the Championship

Thanks for the clarification: mark me down as Captain Obvious taking Mound City vs. Pattonsburg. Same repeat champ.............
Mound City may repeat, but Pattonsburg's offense is lethal and their defense is improved. They will be a very tough out for anyone, even Mound City.

Give me Pattonsburg this year. Like was said before, Offense is so good, and defense is improved. I’ll take Pattonsburg over Mound City. Anyone have decent info on the south teams in the WEMO? I’ve heard nothing.

Earlier someone asked about a team going from 11 to 8. Greenfield did it, and for the first year they were pretty peppery until they met up with some of the power teams in the playoffs. Liberal's first year of 8 man is this year, wondering if it might be the same?

It is quite possible. I "think" this district comes down to them, Drexel (with whom they played a very tight opening game), Osceola and maybe Appleton City. The only two I would definitely not look for are Rich Hill and Chilhowee.

I really thought Leblond would make some noise in 8-man. Usually all it takes is 3-4 good athletes to make a decent 8 man team.

Idk if I would put East Atchison and Southwest on the same level considering that EA just blew them out 68-22. Just saying.

I would probably put East Atchison at #5 or #6 in 8-man. They’ve been pretty salty the last year other than when playing against the usual suspects at the top. Worth County, Mound City

I believe it was Greenfield's second or third year that they saw success.

It's okay...................free buffet night in western PA. He and the wife are busy.
Me neither. Bosko is just going to have to get over it.
Alright you clowns! For one, the wife and I dont frequent buffets that often. As Ive said before, Im trying to LOSE weight! AND for your information top, Tuesday is taco night at the Ampipe pool hall. So you were COMPLETELY wrong about me!

And now to address this threads original topic @Cards1968 I dont think there is any real learning curve when moving from 11 man to 8 man. Because everyone should already know how to take a good nap!!!

Do they have darts? Tacos, beer and darts makes for the BEST night out..............

Worth County yes, Stanberry no. Stanberry will win at most 2 conference games this year.
Stanberry will win 1 conference game this year (already beat Braymer). They will win at most 3 regular season games. They still have Pattonsburg, North Andrew, Worth County left in conference. They will lose all three of those. In non-conference, they play LeBlond (toss-up - lean Stanberry), North Shelby (toss-up - lean North Shelby) and East Atchison (loss). My prediction is that Stanberry finishes 2-7 (1-5 in GRC) this year.

I would definitely include North Andrew in Tier 2. They were just a notch below Pattonsburg tonight, but not by much.

I may lean heavily North Shelby after tonight. Wow how the mighty have fallen.........

East Atchison moves to 3-0. Only losses I see in regular season for them are Mound City and Worth County.
They may have a good shot at Worth. Mound is another story.

I hope you’re right. I’ve thought the past couple of years that they’d have a decent shot at worth and then they just get smacked in the mouth.

It’s a new year though

When did Pattonsburg start football up? Doesn't seem that long ago when I was around 8 man teams in PVC they didn't have a team or field.
