I had a quick math lesson. The kicker from Tarkio that I played with would have been 1987 which is much more than 20 years ago.
He was a stud. Here’s a fun fact for you, if I remember correctly, his first varsity start was as QB vs Rock Port his freshman year because the starting QB broke his foot or something like that.
If you know anything about that rivalry, how’s that for pressure as a 14 year old kid?!
I have a good buddy, TMO, that played on that team. I hang out with Jace, Trent, Danny and a couple others every summer. I always seem to forget how that 2002 season went until I start discussing it with them. lol

I just saw all of them at alumni a few years ago.
Was thankful to have gotten to hang out with gabe 2-3 times the few years before his passing.
It was a shame how that 2002 season ended. Losing in sectionals to East Buch after beating them I think it was 46-0 the year before.
But it was a different staff running a different scheme so it happens. Both staffs were good, just different.

Jack Champlin. Kicked six fg over 40 yds in high school. Heck of a fb player both sides of the ball. Great kid too, was part of a great group of young men.
I coached all those young men. Best group of young men and hard working, physical players.
That would be a grand time. I saw them two years ago at a funeral in Westboro. First time in 20 yrs. Just a great group of men in so many ways.
Traughb was an excellent player. Stud in the weightroom. He was just a great young man and a heck of a ball player.
Just saw he won conference defensive player of the year and now Class 1 defensive player of the year. Well Deserved!
