I don’t think nwalls was going out on much of limb to say Trinity would be where they are… they probably have more college level talent on one team than anyone in state, ANY CLASS. They have 8 players on a Class 2 team with Division I or Division I-AA offers, four of which are sophomores. Three of their starting linemen are Division 1 players. They also have 20 freshmen on their roster with a ton of talent too, so I’d expect to see Trinity on this run for a while. I have coached against both Lamar and Trinity over the last 5 years and am looking forward to a great game; I won’t make any predictions but I’ll say this: Trinity is not undisciplined, unorganized and poorly coached. Coach Patterson has done a great job with this team and program. For those unfamiliar with Trinity, here is some info on those 8 DI players on this Class 2 team:

QB/DB- Williams (Soph): multiple D1 offers already, including Illinois and Mizzou. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/high...cle_4c0d3306-ac56-11e6-875a-e75718deacbb.html

WR- Washington (Soph): multiple D1 offers already, including Iowa State, Minnesota and Mizzou http://www.scout.com/player/208040-marcus-washington

LB/RB: Cooper (Soph). Already has D1 offer from Iowa State. http://www.scout.com/player/206350-shammond-cooper

WR/DB- Bolden (Sr): multiple D1 offers at the FCS level. Preseason Super 30 player in St. Louis: http://www.stltoday.com/sports/high...cle_97293a34-5b47-11e6-849c-6f7c06a039cf.html

RB/LB: Boland (Sr): was the best player on Riverview Gardens last year, transferred for senior year. D1 offers at FCS level, including Northern Iowa. Preseason Super 30 player in St. Louis. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/high...cle_f09ed0b6-ab82-11e6-bdc9-d7d0c4b87e35.html

OL/DL: Green (Sr, #66): was the best player on Jennings last year, transferred for senior year. D1 talent, very very disruptive. Preseason Super 30 player in St. Louis. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/high...cle_1c906b5c-5382-11e6-9d66-139d09704cbd.html

OL/DL: Boyd (Sr): one of the top lineman recruits in the country, committed to Illinois. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/high...cle_225cd9c4-6270-11e6-9e66-970f5abbb78f.html

OL/DL: Henry (Soph): sophomore OL who already has D1 offer from Iowa State: http://www.scout.com/player/206347-ira-henry

This is the most interesting part of the matchup. How will lamar handle being matched athlete, speed for speed. Conversely how will trinity handle the same thing?

Looked up tuition for Trinity Catholic $10,000 a year or if you're Catholic its $9,475.

I have watched most of Trinity's last 3 games and the team that showed up at Lawson was like a different team. They had some structure and it looked like they may have had a game plan. However they didn't look as over powering up the middle. Lawson was able to move the ball on the ground and even through the air a little. If they had been able to get a little pressure on the QB I think Lawson wins by a couple of TDs.

Curious about this statement ?

Malden is the only team I can think of that has played Lamar and Trinity. Maybe I answered my own question.

I would guess Lutheran North

Good stuff, thanks for sharing.

I hope those college recruiters are in Springfield Friday watching Trinity. They might find themselves spending some more scholarship money on some kids from Barton County.

I've heard lots of talk on these threads about Lamar's Hardman...Curious who else will be looked at by colleges in the next couple years? Lamar is known for it's well rounded team, but do they have any stand-outs?

Well that speaks volumes then. I watched the entire game with my son and if that is the best showing Trinity has had, then wow. Friday cannot get here soon enough.

This is really good info...thanks for doing all the research and making all the links. I have seen Trinity play only once (this year vs. Lutheran North)...but it sure looked like they had a whole lot of talent on the field to me...and this seems to bear that out.

That being said...I also saw Lamar roll over a pretty good Valle team and came away thoroughly impressed with them as well. They have 13 kids on their team that bench press over 300 lbs....UNHEARD OF for a Class 2 Program!

PLUS...they too have plenty of speed...second in the state in Class 3 track last year led by Luke Hardman who ran 10.65 in the 100m and placed high in the 200, 300n Hurdles, and 4 x 100m as well.

Lamar tackles and blocks as well as any HS team I have seen at any level...plus, that mis-direction offense they run has to be a bitch to prepare for as it is so hard to find the ball.

This one is the most intriguing matchup of all the Championship games in my opinion...could be a heck of a game between two super talented teams.

I've heard lots of talk on these threads about Lamar's Hardman...Curious who else will be looked at by colleges in the next couple years? Lamar is known for it's well rounded team, but do they have any stand-outs?
Idk about colleges, but other players to watch, IMO..

Offense: Hardman is a for sure, his quickness, agility, and top end speed are legit. Otherwise, McKarus at QB does a good job keeping his feet moving and gaining extra yards. Whyman at the other QB has excellent speed once he gets to the edge. Cooper Lucas is a horse to take down when he gets the ball.

Defense: Again, Hardman. Lucas and TW Ayers are both very impressive at DE. Both are incredibly strong and hit hard. Morrow on the dline will also make some noise rushing the passer or defending the inside run.

Idk how true it is, but it seems like there are some opinions floating around that though they are have great size, the lines for Trinity don't like to play physical. If that is the case that will be great for Lamar bc both lines, ESPECIALLY defensive, are incredibly physical. If that is the case I imagine we will have luck rushing the passer, so our second level guys are going to have to contain the QB and cover all the way as it sounds like they really count on the big play.

Most Lamar players have a great blend of speed and power that serves them well at this level but few have that elite speed or elite power that colleges are looking for. Hardman has that speed and will probably play DB somewhere. Lamar's lineman are average size for HS but all are strong and in great shape. Colleges would rather have a big body lineman that they can build up and get in shape. As mentioned above they have some Juniors who may fit a college profile as well. Their strategy in the weigh room is to build athletes then plug them in where they fit rather than build individuals up for specific positions.

Jared Beshore looked good on the field for MSU this last Saturday; hardly came off the field at all on defense (as did Curran Blamey; go Big 8!)

I'm really curious to see what happens with Hardman. I feel like he has every bit of the speed and athleticism that Beshore had, but with even more size. I may be wrong though. I haven't heard what specific colleges he is talking to.

Landon Compton is another Lamar alum who has really made noise at the next level. I believe he is leading tackler and has been named all conference for two years now at Missouri S&T.

At the Lamar Vs Valle game the kid on Lamar who I thought was a beast was the #7 I don't know his name but man that kid was in every tackle it seemed like and had great speed for a bigger kid.

That's Cooper Lucas. Just a junior. Idk if he is more impressive on offense or defense, but yes, very good speed and athleticism for someone of his size. Crazy strong.

Cooper is probably one of the best (if not the best) all around pure athletes Lamar has ever had. He is crazy strong, fast, and football smart. Not sure where he fits at the next level but he will find a fit at the next level. He is also a great all around person away from the field.

Sam and Ben Bailey also started this year at Mizzou and SIU. Sam is HUGE!
I think that is the biggest difference between the 2013 team and this years team. The 2013 team had the top level talent. I think there are 5-6 starters from that team currently playing in college. This years team has more talent all over the field and on the sideline but does not have the standout top level talent that team had.

There were 8 in that class that signed that year....
Sam Bailey
Ben Bailey
Jared Beshore
Landon Compton
JT Tucker
Levi Peterson
Mark Bartlett
Jimmy Keutzer

Keutzer went to a JuCo and I THINK he's done. Tucker transferred to Pitt State and doesn't play, and Mark Bartlett is at Central MO and I know he played a couple years but not sure if he still is.

I bet not 1 D-1 kid is paying tuition either!

This was my thought as well. I'm sure that this has been discussed here more than most want but no other school can pull kids in from the area around. Most schools are restricted by district lines. The fact that a coach went from one St. Louis private school to another and a number of boys followed seems unfair. Plus I was told that a couple kids from another school in the St. Louis area transferred to Trinity also. I wish we could. We would be able to compete with anyone at any level. We've got some talented kids inside of Trinity's mileage area. It's worse in basketball. Look at the Class 3 state final 4 in basketball the last number of years. One KC private school listed their players and where they were from. They drew players from all over the KC MO & KS area. If we could gather from that area we would be unstoppable. Not sure what to do but this isn't what HS sports is about. JMO

I can't wait for this game. This should be the best collection of athletes to play at Plaster Stadium in quite a while. Sounds like both teams have basically the greatest players in the history of football, Trinity's College Offers vs. Lamar's 300lb Bench Pressers.

Although I am not wild about this sarcasm...I do so love sarcasm as a whole!

Drove by Lamar on I-49 the other night, since nighttime starts at 5:30 now, and the lights of the stadium were burning bright. I assume the tigers are practicing on the game field this time of year. I know Trinity has all of this super talent, but I know Lamar will be coached up well. No matter how big the boy is, they are still high schoolers. Sometimes the head cant handle the body underneath.

That's what I love about High School ball over Pro... Their kids they do it B/c they love the game, their Town, and their teammates. Everyone knows I'm not a big Lamar Fan but I haven't seen a team that buys into all of these things as much as Lamar.. I think Lamar wins Easily and I'll definitely be cheering them on.

This compliments what I stated. They may be big, but can they push as much weight in the air? I guess we will never know, however I doubt it. If they can then this will be more of a game than I anticipate. Conditioning will play a major role as well. However, everyone properly conditions, don't they? :)

Thanks Skinslvr26. However, I don't believe that is a fair statement to your boys. It has been a dog fight for how many years now? I love it when rivals, can come together for a common theme and know we would do likewise if and when the situation is reversed.

Those big boys from Trinity look to be pushing around about 100 pounds of belly fat
