Just curious and have been all year but now it's turning into a favoritism concern, but i dont know enough about their program outside of the scores and record. But why the hell is fort osage ranked anywhere near the top 25? This isn't in a "i hate Fort O" type of way, but i see nothing about their resume that should have them up there

Three of their four losses were to good teams all of whom are rolling now (Grain Valley, Oak Park, Kearney). The head scratcher was Blue Springs (second year in a row)...................

I was looking at that and what popped in my head was, what puts them up there over a St. Pius or a Liberty. and if not for the terribly awful H2H loss by St. Joe Central to Fort O, id also ask why not them

I am not really a rankings person especially when they lump all classes together but do believe these Indians can ride Peppers to another nice November run. This Friday at Platte County is the near future of C5 HSFB in the KC Metro. BOTH will be extreme good next year.

I respect that. I don't use them too seriously when making my own predictions, but they are fun and i do enjoy trying to find consistencies in median rankings and such

Are they both just young this year ? And if so, for PC to be young and go toe to toe with a seasoned Oak Park in the second half, that would be an interesting watch in the 2024 season

im gonna have to disagree I don't see them getting out of their own district this year. Next year is a lot of questions marks for GV but PC and FO look loaded

Grain Valley is the obvious favorite but the problem there is they've played totally overmatched opponents since the first Platte County game (which the Pirates pretty much gave away)...............I did not come away impressed with their D at all during their early schedule.

Definitely a hard area to find decent opponents, the PC giving away comment is crazy, PC couldnt stop the run at all. Im not sure on FO getting past PC but i trust ya enough to make my weekly pick for FO lmao

These rankings are really useless, meaningless. I even post Calpreps rankings which have major flaws in that if you play a lot of bad teams you don’t get an accurate rating.

I have no idea what to expect with PC vs. FO. PC has some real head scratcher scores. Fort is definitely top 25 towards the bottom of that. They had Blue Springs for 3 quarters but just had a stinker rest of way. It was a 2 point game with OP early morning n the third. Outside of BS the teams they lost to are my picks for state championships or a district championship.
All of Forts losses have come on the road so PC has the advantage there. The only team that has kept Peppers in check was Kearney. Everyone else beat Fort in a shootout so PC will need to score.

#1 Can Fort beat Pc, its a tough task but i think they can get it done. On the road makes it real tough
#2 This is my biggest concern, Has GV Defense improved enough to stop Fort? I believe so, If they have not then its going to be a fun game to be at again

I am in same boat as you no idea what to expect beyond the obvious PC spread with all that young talent vs. Peppers one of the top backs in all MO. Cannot wait to drive over and see it live!

Did he just throw them or were they forced errors due to defensive pressure and coverage?
Watching the game I thought they were mostly unforced errors. Bad reads. A soph learning. Trust me I am a NWMO guy would love to be wrong but do think Grain Valley's big achilles heel especially facing someone like Webb City in the quarters is the D.

And that was before Kearney had Helberg, Grace and Noland in the mix on D. They’re all back now.

You and I watching a different game? Jk
Bad reads or disguised coverage
I know 20 was in his face multiple times that night.

Will be interesting, if they rematch, to see how Marriott has grown since mid season. Likely a combo, frankly. Probably all a better discussion for next week if Platte County survives.

So tired of hearing about Kearney man, just give them the State Title. They had to offer the job to 3 other guys before they offered Minnick, Matt Webb would have a dynasty rolling there. Alam Wilmes the first, all he does is win. Lets see how many trick plays he can come up with to beat Smithville. He hasn't won very many PO games as a head coach. Helberg just came out after after week 2, Im sure they guy spot he took that had been there all summer was happy.

We give those to #1 ranked teams. Smithville has it all wrapped up...............

Grain Valley will beat Fort in a rematch and I don't think it'll be particularly close. Not near as close as the first game of the season.

Why would they need "trick plays?" They outgained Smithville in the last game without their QB1, two OL and their all-conference DE, as well as three all-state athletes on D who are all back now. Just sayin'

I believe the same however when these 2 teams get together, they both play really well. I think the GV defense has improved more than enough to hold Fort to under 20 points while the offense has returned another weapon at WR while also gaining confidence and chemistry with 1st year QB. I'm not sure how far this team goes but I am confident in them getting out of districts and beating district 7 winner whether it be Carthage or Webb. Helias I think beats Lebanon and that should be one heck of a semifinal matchup between Helias and GV

Don't forget about Republic, folks.

to be clear I count almost no high school teams out on any given day as there is too many factors that play into them playing well.

I am however going with what i believe to be the most likely options and I am prone to being wrong as hell lmao

Not "correcting" you or anyone else just pointing that out because I've looked at that team think they could run to the semis.

Trick Plays= Innovative Coach that keeps defensive coordinators guessing.
I wish Fort would juice up their offense. It is so predictable.
What Minnick did at Raytown was very impressive. Just look how fast it fell apart after he left.

yeah i get it i just wanted to make sure noone was assuming i think they cant win. I try to be very open that i think there are favorites but that I do believe there are about to be some real good games that with 1 or 2 things going the others way can sway the result.

I saw them live once this year Thursday Week 2 at Excelsior absolutely jaw dropping how numbers fell off that fast. As for the trick plays I think that matters what type of team you have. Provided they avoid any more key injuries Kearney has the type of team that (just my little opinion) you just go out line up and dominate the opponent never mind who it is.

This is how Smithville does it. You virtually never hear their HC even mention the opponent they are concerned about what they and only they do. They simply lined up and darned near pulled off the shocker of the 2022 playoffs last year (St. Mary's).

Another team who has such a history and always sparks interest is Camdenton. Perhaps last week was just an anomaly?

Yep, didn’t have to give it to them coach. They took it. Smithville is over. I love reading your Whiney bitching.

Enjoy the losing. It will continue.

This did not age well.......................except for the State Title part.
