Ferguson has an almost 30% TO rate. And Mahy can’t guard a PG, or handle it under pressure. Hammitt is the best PG, but she may be out for season. Two best (only) perimeter defenders out for season would be hard to overcome.Hopefully Bray’s knee injury is not serious but I don’t think Nixa will miss her on the offensive side of the ball. Mahy and Ferguson are the only true PGs they have. Not sure why Nixa has Bray running point on a lot of their possessions. Bray will be missed on defense and she brings some toughness to Nixa.
30% Turnover rate? Not sure what you mean with that stat. Are you saying she has 30% more turnovers than assists? In Bray’s defense a recent article states she is the only Nixa player that has more assists than turnovers. To me that is a coaching problem, for some reason Nixa’s coach does not seem to value possessions and cutting down on turnovers is not a priority for her.Ferguson has an almost 30% TO rate. No. Turnover rate. She turns it over almost 30% of the time she touches it. It’s truly awful.30% Turnover rate? Not sure what you mean with that stat. As for Mahy her playing PG on offense doesn’t mean she has to defend the other team’s PG. I believe she is the best ball handler on the team, just my opinion. Some of her turnovers may go back to team philosophy on taking care of the ball.
Class of 2021 and 2022 teams lost I think 4 games combined in 4 total seasons of 7th and 8th grade.I remember watching Nixa junior high teams with great players and then trying to find them on high school and they are no where to be found. Where do they go?
Nixa wins the junior high tournaments almost every year but it doesn't lead to much
It happens a lot in big schools. Girls mature early, and frosh and sophs play varsity. The girls as juniors and seniors that should build your depth as the 7th or 8th man just quit. They won’t sit behind younger players. Most varsity rosters end up 2 seniors, 3 juniors, a couple sophs and maybe a freshman. It’s everywhere. No depth due to attrition. And judging JH success as girls is fools gold. They’re playing against 1 grade. As soon as they hit HS, if they’re good, they’re playing 4 grades. Lots of JH bullies that don’t translate. This was true in 16 and 17 as well. I saw those teams play in junior high. I saw their freshman team in 18 and only saw 1 player I recognized. I looked st the roster to see if any had been bumped to varsity. 1 more had. The rest were no where
Coaching matters. You’d think the coach at Nixa would ask for help. She has a great coaching resource. It boggles the mind.OTOH, Carl Junction girls have won the junior high COC tournament once in the past 7 years so that would be once in 14 tournaments yet they are on the path to win the COC for the 3rd time in that time period.
One of them should’ve never been hired…For some reason her assistants never stay very long. On the boys side Blansit and Boyce were assistants for Osborne for several years
