Back to a 7 game lead after being up only 2 1/2 at the Allstar break and 1 win shy of being 30 games over .500. The Birds could go a game under .500 the rest of the season and still win 97 games. That's been more than good enough to win the division most years. Starting to get some folks healthy and added a bullpen arm that could take some pressure off the already great pitching staff we've enjoyed. I see no reason to think they can't do better than .500 baseball the rest of the way and hold off the Pirates. Who woulda thunk this would be a team that has a chance to win 100 games when Waino went down, not to mention all the other injury issues.

We won earlier this week with a HBP, Catcher inference, and Yadis first triple in four years. Tonight we won with two hits total on a weak sac fly to a rag armed OFer. With this schedule we could be 35 over by the first week of August with a below average offense in the NL. I think this was the 54th game we have given up only two runs or fewer.

I guess we can win the division with this schedule then. You act like we haven't beaten any good teams all year. Unlike the Pirates we HAVE, while they're 7 games under .500 in the NL Central. I'm more worried about Wacha right now than anything else. He just ain't right. I just found out why Grichuk left the game today so I'll add that to my worries. What's up with all the groin and thigh injuries with this team?

I act like we haven't beaten any good teams all year? WTH are you talking about? I just said we have held our opponents to 2 runs or fewer 54 times. I think that means our pitching is insane doesn't it? We are in a stretch of playing 14 out of 16 at home against not so great teams while the pirates will be playing more road games than home. We have a chance to blow this thing wide open. Don't make me cuss on a Monday morning.

Do you even know what your last post said? It most certainly did not ooze confidence. If they just play .500 ball the rest of the way they should win this division. I see no reason to think they won't do better than that and maybe win 100 games. IF they get in the playoffs this pitching staff could be scary good with all the off days, assuming they stay healthy, which is always a question mark. Let's hope Grichuk is not out for long and Wacha gets back on track.
