I feel like Joplin assumed it was a dead ball . After it was blocked it was like 6 guys on Carthage blocking 2 for Joplin
Before the kick I told my gf Joplin is winning this game . Gall is kinda hurt and Joplin's kicker made this exact same kick to beat WC last year
If so that's a terrible assumption and something the coaches should get a handle on the rest of the year and off season. Ive watched too many games especially mizzou this where players are standing around with a loose live ball rolling around.
This sort of thing is what cost Carthage the district title last year. Clearly they remember that.
To be fair I only watched the second half but Joplin outplayed Carthage. Joplin played smash mouth fb like I've really never seen them do . Joplin absolutely should have won this game . That being said gall looked really banged up and he's about 80% of carthages offense
Astounding finish and really in my opinion this might be one of those rare instances where the better team didn’t win. I was really impressed with Joplin and I agree with the other comment thought they were better than nixa. They could pretty much do it all.
Something I liked from Carthage was utilizing a wide variety of plays and players rather than all runs by gall and Jadwin like we saw the first several weeks.
Surprised nothing has been said about the Joplin players stabbing the turf with the eagle flag before the game, lol!

Thought both teams were evenly matched and exchanged blows all night. Carthage landed the last shot and won. Carthage got the ball to the 1 again like last week and came away with 0 points. They need to finish those drives come playoff time.
Both times penalties moved them back from the 1 and they were unable to recover. I’ve said many times that penalties especially holding have been an Achilles heel this year. Not sure if that’s a function of being undersized, playing 2 ways and getting tired or just a lack of discipline but whatever it is they will have a tough time getting past Webb city again if they repeatedly get into 2nd and 20 or 3rd and 14 situations, especially when Gall seems to be struggling to get more than 3-4 yds at a time.
I wouldn't have attempted the kick. I would have thrown a hailmarry pass. If caught might have won or been incomplete the OT!
I don’t know, I thought it was a good move and really expected it to be a game winner for them like last year. And really how often does a missed field goal result in a defensive td? Usually it’s just a missed attempt.
Second match between these two teams that has ended with the last play of the game not working out and causing the other team to win.
