Not the 7 seed. Truman, Carthage, Rolla are the top 3 seeds. Absolutely no way those two should have played in the 1st round.
I agree that they were much better than the number 7 seed. I find it funny that Rolla always gives themselves the #1 seed every year and Carthage ended up with the toughest first round matchup this year after upsetting them for the Championship last year.
Are they even seeding the tournament or just putting out matchups? I’m seeing more and more tournaments that don’t actually seed. Joplin and Carthage always put the local teams up against the out of area teams in the first round every year.
I’m a Rolla parent and from my understanding it isn’t a true seeding. The Rolla boys and girls teams are listed in the top spot so they will always be the home team on the scoreboard. Typically it has been matchups and separating the local teams. Originally it was 4 local teams and 4 out of the area teams but that is no longer the case. I agree that Truman and Carthage should not have been matched up in the first round. Definitely a shame As they were definitely one of the top 3 teams and Carthage should not have been playing for consolation. Some of the teams in the tourney this year seem to be having a down year as they were not as competitive as they have been in the past.
Separating Rolla, Waynesville and even Warrensburg makes sense. However, I’d heard they base matchups off of LAST years record only which is asinine. Truman played 5 Juniors and a Freshman last year and amazingly they are better this year while playing class 6 Metro teams.
Waynesville STILL had a worse record than Truman last year, so Waynesville/Truman Carthage/St.Pius 1st round makes more sense.
OR just be logical; Warrensburg and Hannibal were clearly WAY down. Neither team should have been in Semis!
There’s a track record though, as LincolnCollege Prep/ Carthage played 1st round last year.
If it was based on last year's win/loss records, shouldn't the Carthage/Waynesville winner have paired up against the Hazelwood West Warrensburg winner in the semfinals?
