28-7 Smithville

Make it 35-7 with 6:14 in the 2Q. Smithville pulls a page out of the 2007 Fiesta Bowl with a hook-and-ladder on forth down. It is “shock and awe” right now in Kearney.

Dang, didn't see this one coming at all. Looks like turnovers have killed Kearney.

Not so fast, my friend, Kearney scores a TD and recovers an onside kick. 35-13, Bulldogs are on the move with under 2:00 to go in the 2Q.

Yes I’m going to be that guy…

Smithville is going to have a hell of a track season, just ask Joey
Gonna be interested in his take on tonight. I "think" everyone saw this one pretty much the same as I did, though. As stated in the original thread these close looking rematches often break one way or the other. Kearney was just flat not prepared for the higher intensity of these playoffs and beating Smithville took a smidge of edge off them BUT many have also pointed to the long stretch of overmatch games. Smithville, as I also pointed out, handled them like business. Kearney will be THE team in this area next year will be very interesting to see what all those returning Juniors learn in particular.

three games of turnovers and sloppy play to finish the season. Underclassmen

Back to inexperience. They just flat weren't ready for high end playoff intensity. I bet the farm we never see anything like this next year. Again a very educational event. As I also stated back after they beat Smithville Week 3 now they have to handle SUCCESS. Much, much harder to do than it appears.
